I cleaned it up, scrubbed it, and then put boxes on it. Those boxes should be gone by months end.
How to clean and organize my back porch
How I did it:
- By asking for help!
- Working on the evenings to make sure that it could get done.
- Really, that's it.
Lessons & tips: Just get it done. The porch is not a storage locker. Put it away or get rid of it!

Made more headway towards this goal just after Thanksgiving 2007. Items are stacked so that there can be more access to the storage area. The next big push will be to purge items (like tapes of TV shows now on DVD) that are no longer needed or wanted.
I spent a good eight hours removing stuff from the backyard and porch. I have a giant pile of green waster to be placed in the green waste recycling bin. The pile is about 10106 feet in size, almost 17 cubic meters of stuff. Everything looks better.
There is way too much stuff to compost. My goal this weekend is to place a chunk of it in the green waste bin. I also am going to restart my compost bin, and plant some radishes and carrots.
My girlfriend has agreed to sit on the porch with me and read a book while I work on this project! Not only will she offer support, but she is willing to help me keep focused.
I don’t have much vacation time, but I should spend a little of it getting my life together. I will see if I can get this Friday off to do some housekeeping.
It’s awful. I don’t have a kitchen, but I do have a fridge on the back porch. I need to get rid of everything that is on porch and get it cleaned up! I can barley get to my fridge. It looks horrible. My garden is also cluttered with dead stuff.
Time line: Reorganized porch by Feb 9th.
Cleaned porch and backyard by Feb 16th.
Removal of all unnecessary, un-porch-like and non gardening materials by March 2nd.
