reecho311 is trying to finish her horrible, no good, very bad essay
For me, this goal is about not worrying what other people think. And not just accepting everything that everyone else accepts without thinking about it. Just being my own person. And when you accept yourself, you’ll accept others much easier. That was an integral part to my getting over social phobia, so I should know.
And speaking out more, voicing my opinions, and being more sure of myself. I tend to be super-shy, so that’s definitely a legitimate goal.
Doesn’t really sound very punk when I put it in such lame vocab though, does it? XD
But just labeling this self-improvement as “be more punk” makes it easier for me. Words like “outgoing” are just intimidating after years of not being able to live up to them.
Oh, and my anthems/mantras/whatevers are “Warning” and “Minority” by Green Day. Whether you think Green Day’s genre is punk or not, you can’t say the meanings of those songs aren’t. And they always make me wanna do something insane.
Anyway, I hope one day my quantified punkness will be significant enough that I feel comfortable crossing this off. It encompasses a lot for me, so it’s a serious life goal.

I’ve been there, done that also. It’s cool for a bit but soon you get bored with it. But the music still kicks ass

I am as punk as I’m going to get. I’ve rather outgrown it and moved on to something bigger.

you wanna be more punk? then do what you feel. punk music was/is a huge part of my life and when i was younger was a huge part of my personal development. Don’t let idiots like some people on here misinterpret what you really want. Be it music, self expression, or an ideology, just run with what you believe in even if it is against the norm. belief in art and expression. that is punk. you don’t need tattoos or a mohawk, but if you got them, that’s cool too. fight for what you believe it, punk=strong/determination/and rejection of the ideals you don’t hold as your own.

... you have to get a tattoo on your forehead or else you’re not a proper punk. Trust me – get one that says “I am really (rilly, if you like) cool and don’t follow leaders.” If that’s too long then you could just get one that says “Punx” or something original like that.
Also, you must get old and bitter and whine about anyone younger than you – repeat after me “He’s not a proper punk. She’s not a proper punk. It’s not a proper punk.”

Been there, done that. Not worth it, trying to convince yourself that that is who you are. If you have to go through the effort to be something, is that really what you are? It’s much better to be what your heart wants you to be.
Love, the hippy.
