i had to stencil things in the factory. my hands were so disgusting, but it was nice to feel like i was doing something rather than just sitting at my computer refreshing stuff.

...I think I’ve taken a few of the first steps. I’ve been cooking much more and more often lately, and with plans for Boston, I’m also considering which houseplants I want to introduce to the apartment and what sorts of decor I want to indulge our sensibilities with. With which, etc. So I haven’t finished doing it, I just don’t imagine I’ll need a constant reminder. :)

That’s where I tend to get my hands dirtiest. It’s okay with cooking, because afterwards sometimes you can lick your fingers. I wouldn’t advise that when planting stuff though :) compost is a bit of a required taste :P hehe. I’ll admit I don’t much like using compost because your hands can get extremely dirty, and if you have longer nails it can take forever to get the black from out of there. But worth it, nonetheless :)

Coming back to this goal, I still cannot wait for the day when I can throw a huge party and cook for twenty or when I can paint a room in insanely deep jewel-tones, alternating, when I can craft a dessert that takes hours to prepare or dazzle neighbors with a stunning display of flowers each spring. I want to create—I am creative and have been all my life. I’ve usually avoided the label because I don’t have a constant muse and besides, who needs that kind of pressure? But I am, I admit. I have an insane impulse to create, to produce, to stand back and look at what I’m molded with my hands, to smile briefly, and to move on to the next project at hand. I’m a writer by craft, it’s true, but to create something tangible is a dream I cannot wait to tackle.

While I love that when my hands are dirty, it’s mostly due to ink scuffs and leaks of various colors, but there are times when I think it would be phenomenal to plant something, to cook a legitimate meal for twenty, to paint with oils or sketch with charcoals, to produce is all.
