read one chapter of proverbs every day for a month

My friend Sarah and I are going to start chapter 1 on September 1st. I’m excited.

Although, we do have a slight problem in that if we want to finish in the month of September we will have to double up one day (only 30 days and 31 chapters). Oh, well… we’ll figure it out.

Today’s thoughts:

Here’s what I got out of proverbs 28.

Care for the poor, and you will be cared for:

Prov 28:8

8 He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

Prov 28:27

27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

Money is a means to an end. The surest way to money is to work for it.:

Prov 28:19
19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.
KJV

Prov 28:20

20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
KJV

Prov 28:22

22 He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.
KJV

You can’t do it on your own. Confidence is great, but pride tends to crush toes. If there is anyone worth trusting, it would be God.:

Prov 28:25

25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

Prov 28:26

26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
KJV

I just like this last verse. It paints an interesting image.

Prov 28:28

28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.
