publish a magazine

Printing just costs too much and we don’t have the time/commitment to get advertising so we’re making it a website instead.

My friend and I have made a zine our summer project. Facebook has been invaluable in recruiting contributors and our content is coming along nicely. Printing, however, costs WAYYY more than I expected, so we’re trying to get advertising. I have to write the contract and pitch today, ugh…

So maybe publishing a magazine that dealt with sleep culture is not such a good idea after all. Maybe I should work on making the blog better before doing anything that needs investment capital.

i would love to own my own magazine, mainly for people who love fashion, style etc..i’ve many plans for this magazine but i dunno how to get started!! i need as much contacts as i can get it published.. grrr helpp

All you need is to get money for the first printing of the magazine and find a way to distribute it free. The rest pays for itself after the first issue. For the graphic design I have my own family company and if you want to get your magazine out there fast, we can always help you with the graphic design working on 20 day terms. But as far as the printing goes it’s pretty hard to find a sponsor/investor who will trust that you will pay him back

The concept continues to germinate. The only roadblock is $0. Since this will be an advertiser driven publication, I hope to find the right establishments to cash flow the mag. If I can arrange 30 day terms with the printer, I can pull this off.

During the past four months I made a plan detailing the business structure involved in this goal. Advertisement Sales/Acquiring Content/Art Department/Production/ and Distribution.

I have recieved costs involved with the production of the title and the content. I need to produce a sales package and build a sales team. Without ad sales – there is no magazine! lol.

I’ve decided to publish two magazine titles. I can reduce costs per run with an additional title running. Increase potential profits.

I’ll post detailed cost figures and timelines soon. I need to get back to work.

I always wanted to but I really doubt it’s possible.lol.
