this class is kicking my ass. i had my second exam today and even studying didn’t help me. turning over a new leaf and gonna get my A!
How to get an A in Organic Chemistry
How I did it: The trick to doing this is to take it at a place where they don't force you to memorize everything, but instead teach you guiding principles.
I used the Carey textbook and read the entire thing. I did most of the practice problems and I used the website (http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/classware/selfstudy.do?isbn=0073047872) to get good at retrosynthesis. I'm definitely not an organic chemist, but between those two habits, I did fine.
Lessons & tips: Carbocations? Not so stable. Resonance? Really important. Ketone enol
tautomerization? Messes up everything. Watch out for stereochemistry, it comes back to haunt you all the time.
Resources: ACS review book saved my life for reviewing for the ACS exam. I heartily recommend it!

i took this class last semester worked my ass off, but, failed every test. but managed to get a C+, i guess ican’t complain, i only needed a C for nursing school.
I actually looove organic chemistry. Don’t know why, but I find it easy. (but I think history is a pain in the ass which most people think is easy, so it evens things out…;-P)
Ok, so I hate O-Chem with a passion…it takes soooo much time, but it feels really good to have conquered both part I and II with A’s in both. And I do think I’ve learned alot….just hope the stuff I need for Pharmacy school won’t escape out of my brain too quickly :)
I knew I could pull this off no problem….it was just painful going through it again. It felt like groundhog’s day every time I stepped into that lab!
Anyway….that was the last pre-pharm class I had to take…not just wait till August until Pharmacy School Starts!
dianasvet is learning French :)
so I started Orgo this semester. So far it’s a disaster, I am not getting stuff done, even though I am studying like crazy. I’ll try different approaches, and we’ll see what works:)
I just started Ochem.Met a lot of people that failed it already.I’am a little scared but I’am motivated and am willing to do anything I can to do well.Any tips?
Took Organic almost 7 years ago and had to retake for the PHarmacy program I’m applying to. It’s not too bad, have a strong A so far but just got a B on my third exam so I gotta quit being such a slacker and start studying earlier than the night before the exam :)
