get over my fear of whales

I literally shivered reading some of the entries. Literally everything about them creeps me out. Especially how the move and the noises they make. Everytime they’re on the TV I turn away/cover my eyes. Sometimes I actually have to walk out of the room – kind of annoying when you’re a nature geek, believe me. I’ve never seen one in my life btw, not in the flesh. But Killer whales don’t seem to affect me. Probably because they looks like huge dolphins not weird whaley things. Most people laugh at me when I say I’m scared of them which is SO DAMN ANNOYING. I’m glad I’m not the only one.

Anyway, rant over. Basically… they freak me the hell out. :D

thank god im not the only one… i am so terrified of whales to i have been since i was a little girl i couldn’t watch Pinocchio or finding nemo nether i cant even pick up a book on whales or watch a documentary even if something random is on TV or in a book and i am watching or looking at and a whale appears i freak out i even have nightmares of whales every now and then and i wake up with my heart racing i don’t like the noises they make nether its so scary.

Whales are DISGUSTING
I have a tremendous fear of being swallowed alive and a whale is the only animal big enough to actually be able to do this to me in real life. I can’t watch Pinocchio, I can’t watch Finding Nemo, I can’t play Kingdom Hearts and I can’t finish the 3rd Spyro the Dragon game because there’s a whale in a lake.
My grandma gave me a necklace with a whale on it that said “save the whales”. I gave it to a friend for her birthday.

I fucking hate whale.. they scare the shit out of me.. i thought my sister and I were the only ones… i always get laughed at. i hate the sounds they make the way they look at things and especialy the f**kin size…

i had to cover my eyes and my heart was beating so fast.
everyone laughs and doesn’t believe that i really did get scared of that fucking whale on finding nemo.. creeping up in the dark ocean in the back.. oh lord i don’t like thinking about it
ocean sun fish are pretty scary too..

I can’t stand looking at whales from books, magazines, tv, internet. They all give the creeps… really…

whales are freaking giant.

and they move all slow and spooky.
ughh i hate them.

It’s nice to know I’m not the only one with a whale phobia. I’ve never seen a whale in my life and I live in Utah but I still find them terrifying. Ironically, Killer Whales don’t bother me at all.

I had no idea other people shared my fear! I just moved to Monterey and people have been making fun of me non-stop for my “stupid” phobia, but I don’t think it’s any more stupid than a fear of spiders or enclosed spaces or whatever else. I’m actually forcing myself to go whale watching today to try to just get over it already because it’s stressing me out to be teased so much (I’m 25 for goodness sake). I’m only afraid of balene whales though, not the ones with teeth, so sea world isn’t quite so scary for me (although it makes me start to think of the scary whales).
