Rappelling lessons 1 week ago

HI,
I have some minimal experience with rappelling and would like to become proficient. My fiance works with me on weekends and holidays, on occasion, as he’s an expert.

I would like to find a club or individual who provides such lessons in the northwest metro Atlanta area, not too far from Kennesaw or Cartersville.
Thanks,
Susan

As a fire fighter in a large urban centre, we had to learn rapelling. It’s great fun rapelling from a bridge 140 ft. above a river. It’s neat to tie yourself off half way down, trust your knots and belayer and let go and just hang for a few minutes. Definitely a blast.

I did it! 1 year ago

and I loved it! Rappeling was fun and easier than what I imagined it would be. Went to Matacanes Canyon in Monterrey, Mexico. The place is peaceful and beautiful. The entire experience involves hiking, walking, jumping off cliffs into lakes and lagoons, swimming, clibing and rappeling for eight hours. It was a shot of adrenaline and youth directly to the bloodstream!

I am actually beginning to seriously plan this goal, after much talking about it. Will go to Matacanes (near Monterrey, Mexico) sometime in March or April, with my cousin who has done this before. Will spend a weekend camping, hiking, rappelling, swimming…NO internet, NO phones, NO TV! Aaaaahhh…definitely something to look forward to!

My first time ever repelling (as opposed to just climbing) was at an army FTX weekend. Keep in mind that I am NOT in the army, but I was in a class that required it. I have a total fear of heights, and I cried for 45 minutes before actually going up. There I was, surrounded by army boys, crying about repelling down a 40 ft wall. Priceless. But I did it, and it is honestly one of the things I
am most proud of in my life.

Rappelling is overrated and it’s over fast and the setup isn’t nearly as worth it as climbing.
