I have had varying degrees of physical activity and varying degrees of dietary discipline during the three years I have had this goal on my list. However, I haven’t threatened meeting this goal. It is time to assess the barriers to this goal, namely:
1. sloth
2. workaholism
3. beer
4. cheese
There have been other barriers, but these are the most tenacious.
I won’t really address sloth, but workaholism leads to sloth a lot because I am so tired. I think I have a handle on workaholism soon. I have a bunch of work due by the end of the month, but moving forward, I don’t have a lot. The main thing is that I have a lot more competent people to hand stuff off to than I ever did before.
The beer thing is insidious. On the grand scale of my life, my consumption is down, but I drink a bit more than I should, especially if I want to lose weight. I am going to ramp down a bit more to see if that will make a difference.
The eating of cheese, just cheese has got to stop. I am going to only have it integrated with food, not chunks off the brick or slices on crackers.

jbranh01 work work work to accomplish these goals!
My last entry was from 2 years ago! At that time I was 215. Since than I allowed myself to get above 260!! I’m now back down the low 220’s! I hope I can lose the next 10 or so pounds!

According to Wii Fit I am over 235. Yikes. I am big proponent of increasing exercise over decreasing calorie intake, but I might need to do both. I guess all of the walking is just making me hungry. :(

I have never felt my weight was unhealthy, regardless of what the doctor said
So the BMI of 25-30 may not be as bad as it was cracked up to be. However, this goal is coming mostly from vanity, not health, and will remain on my list.
I have been a solid 27-28 for quite some time. If I had a stronger chin, this goal might not be here. I was in the 21 range for a very long portion of my youth and young adulthood, and got sick a lot more then than I do now.

Eight days left on my challenge and I don’t really have a good idea if I am close or not. I don’t have a scale and have not been going to the pool (the scale at the pool is cheap and suspect anyway).
I am mentally preparing myself to not watch TV for a bit although I believe I have made some progress, mostly from abstaining from alcohol.
I am stoked that the White Rapper Show is over and I won’t have to miss the thrilling conclusion. Other than that, I have only been watching sports, Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters and the news (and random pbs shows), all crap I can live without.

I haven’t had a beer in month.
I haven’t bought any of those one pound bags of nuts for a month either.
I have made some progress, but I don’t know how much because I don’t have a scale and the new scale at the pool is a cheap piece of garbage.
There was some substitution of sugar for alcohol, but I think it is under control now. I am petty sure my caloric intake has lessened.
The main problem is a lack of exercise, especially on workdays. This weekend I went hiking, danced for a couple hours and swam. I just need to go walking or swimming on weeknights.
