The most recent was the annual St Patrick’s Day party. This year it was an open house and there were close to 50 people there.
It featured some amazing food (Guinness lamb stew, colcannon, 5 corned beef – 3 of them wrapped in puff pastry “Wellington” style, mussels steamed in beer, Guinness cheddar fondue, soda bread, whiskey shortbread and more), wonderful drink (the signature one this year was a Black Velvet – half Guinness, half champagne), music, dancing, laughter and a limerick contest.

for my 18th i had a party at my boyfriends place… it was AWESOME. got around 100 people.. i’d invited 30 close friends and just let them tell the rest. in the end, random people were walking off the street and coming in to have a look around. first party at that house where nothings been broken, either. it was a great night!

It is completely worth it. We’ve had drunken barn dances, toga parties and te Jerry Springer party where everyone dressed up as their favorite guest—good times because everyone was acting like an idiot in the first place.

My sweetheart and I had a lakeside BBQ kegger for our baby shower…quite a success…the headcount wasn’t even a consideration, I just invited everyone I like and told them to invite others that know us…and I think the keg of beer, horseshoe pit, croquet, lakeside setting, summer afternoon and huge park BBQ’s helped up the headcount to 50+, oh, and I assured all the guys there would be no parlor games, and that gifts were not required…I guess neat-o invitations helped too…FUN! Do it.
Dang it! I had a party last night and I think I counted 28 or 29 people. It seems like I fall short all too often. I’ll have to try this goal again sometime.

I dont do myspace or facebook but my close friends invited everyone I knew to my house party. 2 beer kegs, 400 dollars worth of liquor, 2 bottles of absinthe, beer pong, bonfire in my backyard, and a Crunk Ass CD. It was awesome. I met new people, got to catch up with old friends I dont see anymore, and its been more than six months since I had the party and I meet random people that I dont know come up to me to tell me how awesome my party was and if im having another one soon…..
success feels good

Nothing feels like looking around and seeing a ton of people having the time of their lives without a care in the world…and you put it all together!

i don’t know how or when this ever happened, but i’ve become THE party girl in my neck of the woods. i have always been the biggest nerd ever. i was never part of the popular party-crowd in school back in the day, and i never planned a school dance or anything remotely like that, but over the years i’ve built a reputation for myself! everybody looks to me to throw the best bashes ever. at this point, i think i could theme a party ANYTHING and people would do it just because i asked them to, muwahaha- the power!
but seriously, the key is helping people feel at ease enough to get high on the most ridiculous things, like rollerskating in home-made Tron costumes (pictures here), or throwing the same party every year but always a little better than the year before, like our 4th annual robanukah this year (pictures here, or offering free haircuts (pictures here) and other services (clothes mending, bike repair, massage, music, footwashing, portraits) and seeing who turns up to be treated like a queen or king. it helped that we had free gin n tonics at that one ;) but mostly these parties survive on the thrill of LIFE not on booze or other stuff. People like being together doing CRAZY, goofy, or UNNEXPECTED things and every now and then just need someone to provide them with the opportunity to do it. They just need a little coaxing!
my most recent success was a colour-synaesthesia birthday bash i called “true colours.” everyone had to wear solid colours (no patterns or designs, just solids). either your favourit colour combo, or a solid colour outfit, that kind of thing. pictures are here
i hope you’ll check out my pictures and that it’ll inspire you to throw some amazing, big bashes of your own!
and i’m willing to offer advice on your parties, if i think i can. so please feel free to ask!

I celebrated in my first place with trying to figure out how many people can fit in a one bed room apartment. The answer is 48. Just by a keg and they will come.
The next big party I threw was with my best friend in the summer. We rented a shelter at the forest preserve, we our friends from a local band played and we had more beer.
Seeing the pattern?? LMAO
