Saw it in Toronto with Colm Wilkinson as the Phantom
My dream come true
I would love to see it again
How I did it: This is probably a longer story for me than it should be. I had tickets to Phantom of the Opera back in May of this year in Sacramento. However, it turned out that my office was having a mandatory work weekend (for the first time ever in my six years of working there) to roll out a new system. Boooo. Needless to say, I needed to sell the tickets that I had. Unfortunately, there were no other available dates to that show that I was able to make since it was nearly a two hour drive away from where I live.
Lessons & tips: Get your tickets early and be prepared for an amazing stage set up!

Phantom of the Opera was in Toronto for 10 years. I begged my mom to take us… and she never did. So when it came back for two months only….
I took her.
If you love the story, and the movie….go see it.
You won’t regret it.
It’s my favourite musical, and i am going to see it again when i get a chance!

I’ve loved stage musicals since seeing “Hair” for my 13th birthday. Lack of funds has kept me from seeing every production staged in Toronto since then, but I’ve seen (and immensely enjoyed) a fair few: Godspell (twice), You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Cats, A Chorus Line, Chicago, and most recently, the glorious We Will Rock You. If I started listing the movie musicals I’ve seen and loved, I’d get nothing done for the rest of this afternoon.
But Phantom of the Opera left me cold. I knew the story in advance, of course, but that’s never proved to be a problem in the past. I found the production dark and the sound murky. Perhaps the real problem is that I don’t actually enjoy opera, and Phantom is written more like an opera than like a musical.
Anyway, nobody could pay me enough to sit through this again. But I’m saving my pennies for Dirty Dancing next fall.
My favorite musical of all! Those who have seen it know why it must be seen in the theater.
I’ve seen it a couple times in NYC… and I just returned from seeing it in Toronto, Canada. It’s always been phenomenal. However, I really want to see it in London… and if I could see it with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman… well, I could die a happy girl. :)
I saw Phantom of the Opera on Hallowwen Night at in L.A. It is really an enchanting experience.
We missed the whole first act because of train delays to see it at the Fox theatre in St. Louis! It was the broadway tour, and we were disappointed, but the manager lady felt so bad for us that she gave us front row seats for the show and free tickets for three days later! Huzzah!
