After my sister passed away, I went with her boyfriend to visit his brother in Colorado (we live in Minnesota). We road-tripped down there. It was well needed. It was an amazing experience, and I needed that time with him, to heal together, to understand each other, outside of the scrutiny of those who just can’t understand.
Some time later, he went into the Army and moved to Killeen, Texas. I road tripped down there twice, once with one friend, the second with another friend, to visit him.
I love the freedom in a road trip.
Do yourself a favor—-don’t plan TOO much.

It’s in the planning process, but I have the vacation time from work, and a broad idea of where I’ll be going (big circle around colorado and kansas basically)! The excitement is building!

My husband and I want to take a roadtrip around the US. There are so many beautiful things to see in the US.. we have no need to travel outside of the US.. just yet:)

best thing i’ve ever done. i found some worthy companions (mostly my then-boyfriend, drew) and went to mexico, arizona, north carolina, new jersey, maine, niagara falls, santa cruz, CA, and the american southwest and all he places in between. my car got stuck in sand and i walked 30 miles through mountain lion country then hitched 40 miles to find a telephone that worked. i have a lot of stories, but my mai regret is not having a camera. definitly recommend going on a roadtrip, especially if you’re feeling a bit adrift in life.

Went with a group of five other Celica owners to a meet at Shawnee Mission Park in KC. Not a bad trip, and the seats in the car never got uncomfortable. I’d still like to go on something longer, with multiple stops.

I had a roadtrip while dreaming does that count? It wasnt a bad experience, I was walking at night, got kidnapped, stole a car with someone and then tried to find our way to my original destination to which I was walking to! Haha. And then we asked these people what town we were in and they gave us werid looks…all dreams are fun.

a total of roughly 30 hours on the road brought us to the mecca known as bishop. i climbed like crap, mostly due to my sissy fingertips that have gotten used to fondling smooth and grippy gym holds or basalt instead of real granite … in any case, was shot down A LOT but had an amazing time in what is still one of my favorite places to be a climber.

the weather changes and so do the plans … the mad greek and myself will be embarking upon an epic, 4 day voyage to the high desert of the eastern Sierras, the oasis of beautiful rock known as Bishop. the City of Rocks, while a worthy destination, will be as cold as b@lls on saturday and it hurts my poor little fingers just thinking about climbing it.
bish on the other (not frostbitten) hand: a balmy 60 degrees and sunny. and some of the best problems you can conceive of without getting on a plane.
can already hear ‘high plains drifter’ wafting over the airwaves …
