I’d like to have a farm, grow all kinds of fruits, my own vegetable garden, a pond for ducks and a flower garden.
I love growing vegetables, though my hubby laughs at me and my tiny garden…

Bettina is thinking about her things.
a piece (peace) of land with a well built home. So my husband can work the farm all day. We already feed ourselves all summer with our garden just outside pgh. We will probably keep chickens this year. But we would like to raise some meat animals like rabbits (no problem) and goats (need more land).
While I love our eighborhood, I would still like to have more land and have to hike to the neighbors.
How bougie of me when there are people living in boxes.
Soon! And build a straw bale house on it, and raise alpacas and pigs and chickens.
We own a 5 acre hobby farm and I love it! It is so peaceful having all that privacy and land to yourself!
There is strange disease that is running through my family. While my parents and their siblings were all born and raised in suburban Sydney, my last city dwelling Aunt and Uncle are on their way to ‘green acres’. They complete mass exodus from the city, encouraged by my parents who are relocating from a mere 1.5 hours away to a severe 6 hours. Even my only surviving Grandfather moved to the country some years back.
Now even before all these examples were there to encourage me, I had a strong desire to ‘make a tree change’. After meeting my partner 5 years ago, it quickly became clear that we shared the same goal, to work some land. We are not interested in trying to make an income from this venture, simply just creating a better life for us while improving the environment.
I was raised in the back of a beautiful valley on the island of Oahu. Not only is that valley gone – filled with homes – but the ridge that I grew up on has been flattened to make more room for more houses. There is no going home, because it is not there
So..here in the mainland, I dream and plan to have some land – 20-30 acres – that I can sustain and preserve. Animals, sustainable soil management – I see it all in my heart and head….
After leaving the farm and spending ten years living in cities I miss the space, the sounds and the smells. Knowing your nieghbours, not just saying high when you happen to run into them coming and going from your house but actually knowing and caring about their lives. Anyway this goal is way down my list as i have no real money saved yet. May start working as relief milker on dairy farms next season to get back into the country.
We’re getting closer to doing this… I think we’ll probably move sometime next year.
Yet another on my list that seems impossible. Currently we are renting a 30 acre farm in Illinois. I have a nice garage, horse barn, piggie/doggie shed, and a few acres of fenced pasture. Oh and a super huge pond. Unfortunately, we are just renting and the “house” is well, a mobile home.
I am thankful for what I have…however, I would love to own it or something like it with a house and a basement. Actually, yes- I do love it here. The owner should sell it to us (when I have the means and credit to buy it) and then my husband can build the house.
