When I had my daughter at 16 the midwives almost assumed I’d be bottlefeeding but I never even considered it. K took to the breast like, well, a baby to the breast! Once I got past the initial discomfort I found breastfeeding the most easy, natural and nurturing thing in the world. K enjoyed the benefits of breastmilk until a few weeks before her third birthday.
Little Jimmers had a harder start being in SCUBU for the first 24 hours but as soon as he was well enough to feed he latched on no problemo. I didn’t keep it up quite as long with Jimmers (he was a big fidgeter and pincher!) but he got his boo boos for 21 months.

Very worth it! My little one is almost 3 and still nurses at night. He likes to sing about how he loves his numas.

Still going strong.
Strong as an ox.
Never sick.
Great disciplinary tool – we don’t have tantrums in the middle of supermarkets.
Really smart kid.
Always have a snack on tap. Saves lots of money!

The kiddo:
Fit, healthy kid.
Great relationship with her too.
Now has a minimal tongue tie which I think is due to the impact of breastfeeding on her orofacial development. I’m hoping this will save me a fortune in dental bills later on…
Me:
It cured one of my inverted nipples!
I am now 8 kg lighter in weight than I used to be and my metabolism is much faster. Definitely healthier.
It has a positive effect on my risk for getting ovarian and breast cancer. I have already had one ovarian tumour so I think my risk is potentially higher.
Does wonders for your self esteem. And the hormones also reduce anxiety.
