FLorence! The cradle of painting and drawing! Going in another four weeks, can’t wait! 3 years ago
I have been to Florence but with a tour group. The tour guide didn’t take us to any of the museums though and only took us on a walking tour of the city. It was amazing though and I want to go back so I can see what I want instead of just what the guide wants me to. 3 years ago
So worth it! I lived in Florence for 5 months, studying Italian at Istituto Europeo, a little language school right off the Piazza del Duomo. I made friends from all over the world (unlike some of the bigger schools, like Leonardo da Vinci, there weren’t that many Americans). I lived right near San Lorenzo, which was amazing. Get yourself lost in the older parts of the city; every week I’d find new shops, random little museums or galleries, and great little restaurants. 5 years ago
Was the coolest, most beautiful city I’ve ever been to. The art, the gardens, the people and the bars it was all incredible. James Joyce Pub, if it’s still there has my signature on the wall on the second floor (along with several hundreds of others)
If you get the chance, see this city. 5 years ago
I lived in Florence for 5 months during college. It’s a totally different style of life there – a welcome change from the craziness of American bigger-better-faster culture. Even the sunlight looks cleaner and brighter there. If you have any chance to visit, seize it. Just a warning to the girls, watch out for the men! 6 years ago
