jaklumenCrab chowder

Used a wonderful recipe that takes finely grated potato and condensed milk to get more of a creamy texture without the high calories. 4 years ago

jaklumenHot and sour soup...

...was might nice with fresh mushrooms and grated carrot.

But often I cheat with soup and use canned, frozen, and dried stuff: this soup had canned bamboo shoots and I used a powdered mix for seasoning. 4 years ago

jaklumenPozole

The weather cooled off enough that I decided to make a nice batch of pozole soup, which is pork and hominy.

I was surprised how easy it was to make. 4 years ago

jaklumenWarmer months ahead

With the weather warming up, I have eaten soup much less. But that means I can switch to a sopa fria, a cold soup—and gazpacho is usually the name of the game :) 4 years ago

jaklumenYesterday's soup

slurp I love Vietnamese food.

It was a beef and shrimp wonton soup with egg noodles—about angel hair pasta width. 5 years ago

jaklumenAbout the Thai Cashew Chicken Soup...

Almost more of a curry than an actual soup, but it was great. My wife loved it, but my daughter wasn’t too fond of it. I loved it.

Oh well, two outta three ain’t bad, as Meatloaf used to sing. 5 years ago

jaklumenContessa Recipe: Thai Cashew Chicken Soup

Contessa makes great prepackaged frozen stirfry, and I found they have some great recipes using their various packages.

Thai Cashew Chicken Soup is one of them, and I’m going to try it, and see how it goes. 5 years ago

jaklumenToday's Soup of the Day

I made Stephen Furst’s Hot and Sour soup with rice and some other cream soup dregs.

It’s a pretty versatile recipe :) 5 years ago

All the more reason to eat more soup.

jaklumenTwice in a day?

Yesterday, I decided to have soup for breakfast and lunch.

Cimmy has sometimes commented on my odd choice of soup for breakfast, but… it is easier to prepare than hot cereal, and I usually am able to make it sufficiently nutritious.

I am beginning to eat the same soup over and over again, so… I think I will look at more recipes. 5 years ago

jaklumenYesterday's Soup of the Day

More shrimp-flavored Top Ramen, but again, with mixed veggies and shrimp (yes, real shrimp). 5 years ago

jaklumenSoup du jour...

Today it is Sun Luck’s Hot and Sour soup, with canned mushroom ends and pieces with canned bamboo shoots. 5 years ago

jaklumenSaturday's soup du jour...

A very hearty chicken tortilla soup brought by a church friend. 5 years ago

jaklumenToday's soup du jour...

Shrimp flavor Nissan Top Ramen with real shrimp and mixed frozen vegetables (carrot, pea, lima bean) 5 years ago

jaklumenYesterday's soup du jour...

...since I’m late, was Pacific’s Friend condensed clam chowder.

EDIT: Oops, no such thing exists! The name of the soup was Mariner’s Cove. 5 years ago

jaklumenSoup du jour continued...

...i.e. leftovers from yesterday :) 5 years ago

jaklumenToday's soup du jour...

More of Stephen Furst’s Hot and Sour soup.

Wife is at the store—asked for more ramen. Not especially healthy, but, I load it up with frozen veggies :) 5 years ago

jaklumenToday's soup du jour...

Pacific Natural Foods’ Creamy Roasted Carrot 5 years ago

jaklumenAfter returning to the gym this morn...

I got more soup. More veggie juice for the aforementioned hot and sour soup. Condensed clam chowder. Two boxes of very tasty-looking organic soup.

Would be best if I made it ALL myself from scratch, but good enough for now. 5 years ago

jaklumenSoup, soup

Family has been ill of late, so I made soup for them, even during our trip to Vancouver, WA. 5 years ago

jaklumenSubgoal of lose weight/get in shape

Cross-referenced to I want to eat more soup to lose weight

Soup is fabulous and can be so easy to make… well, depending on the soup ;) I made a sweet and sour soup from Steven Furst’s Confessions of a Couch Potato
and it’s very, very easy to make.

I need to experiment on making America’s Test Kitchen baked beans leaner, but made that recently, too. 5 years ago

habilabidaBorsht and mushroom soup- that is; Борщ и суп с грибами

So, Ive really reached this goal! Since Ive been in Russia these past couple months I eat soup almost everyday. The Russians even have a saying; “Soup and porrige are our foods.”
“Суп и каша- пища наша.” So that’s been going real well. 6 years ago

Kim NI'm a soup addict now

I had some Progresso steak soup last night for dinner. At lunch, I had some Central Market Tortilla soup. I bought 2 Central Market soups to have later: Wild Rice & Leek Soup and Brocolli & Cheddar Soup. Soup rocks! 6 years ago

Kim NCream of Mushroom Soup from Central Market

Very good. I’d prefer the mushrooms weren’t cut up quite so small, but still very good.

This is my second soup today. The first was Campbell’s Chicken Noodle. Still a classic. 6 years ago

Kim NClam Chowder

Wow… I made it myself. It was much better than I expected. I’ll be making it again. 6 years ago

Kim NChicken with Spinach and Orzo

From Central Market (of course)

In addition to chicken, spinach and orzo (rice shaped pasta), I see carrots, squash, onion and celery. It’s pretty good, but nothing special. 7 years ago

Kim NCream of Cauliflower

I had cream of califlower soup from the Capitol Grill at lunch. It was yummy, but I sure wish they’re soup bowls were bigger. 7 years ago

Kim NVegetarian Lentil Soup from Central Market's Soup Bar

I decided to try something I wouldn’t normally try. No meat? But it’s great. I added some cheese. It has lentils, carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, leeks, bell peppers, and more. It’s yummy. :) 7 years ago
