Give up the things you usually spend frivolously on. Even if onlly for a short while because home ownership is a wonderful feeling and a wise move. Waking up in a place where you know the walls are yours, well, there’s nothin’ else like it!

Opened a money market account today with my first $3200. It’s something – a good start!
Have just come out of a divorce, and have a new start. Relocated with work to take a new (great) job, and now am selling my house. Not getting much, due to the divorce. I want to save what little equity I have, rent for about 9 months, work hard to save every dime, and buy a new home:
that is all mine
with as big of a downpayment as possible
and start paying it down so I eventually own it!
I just registered for this “first time home buyers class”. It’ll teach me about budgeting, credit reports, loans and all other required informations needed.
Whether i actually spend that money on a house or not will depend a great deal on my living situation. I’m addressing a general need to be plan-oriented in my life, though i know as well as anyone else that my best-laid plans may end up taking me in completely unexpected directions.
My parents are willing to consider an arrangment whereby they help with a downpayment in exchange for visiting and staying.
At this point anything is better than living underneath the Marietta Free Clinic or whatever they have going on up there. But, I am stubborn, and to move to a new apartment with a new lease and all the new expenses of a move is ridiculous. So I will hold out for other possibilities.
