Launch Party  — 1 week ago

Well, we did it and have launched our application at http://www.spendji.com. We had a party to celebrate at the Centaur Bar in downtown Detroit. It was a great time and a wonderful way to celebrate with friends and family after all of our hard work. I definitely recommend this to anyone starting a business, be sure to take time and celebrate your successes. I’ll post the pictures shortly.

Its a start..  — 2 weeks ago

Right now, I just have a blog called Nomaditech – its about technology, gadgets and such, and I’m trying get some cash from ad revenue. I’ve had a little success, but it does take a while to build traffic. Does anyone have any good tips on how to do that or have a similar site and want to exchange links?

technicalities aside..  — 3 weeks ago

Technically, I’ve started an online business during the second half of 2007 when I started experimenting with affiliate marketing and earned myself a sweet $50 or so. But that’s not starting an online business in my definition, my terms..

To me an online business has different scales. Affiliate marketing is the easiest of them all and takes the least effort IMHO. On the other end of the spectrum is a public company like Monster.com running a complete organization based on the web platform. I want to move along the spectrum bit by bit.

Would love to discuss thoughts with people willing to engage in discussion!

I've finally took the plunge and started my business  — 4 weeks ago

Going out on your own can be very scary, but I’ve never been happier. The 18-20 hour days are rough but there is nothing like seeing other people use your work and getting good results. My web site is http://www.spendji.com and helps groups plan their activities. It’s taken a year to develop and I hope that we can get more investment to continue.

Already at work on this  — 2 months ago

I’ve been hard at work the last few days, trying to brainstorm some ideas I can work on that don’t take a big infusion of money or time. I work full-time and don’t get paid enough to dump lots of cash into something, so I have to replace those assets with others—smarts and hard, intense work.

I’ve got some ideas and some philosophies, and I think I’ve got a pretty decent chance of making a decent amount of money. I may not become a billionaire, but that’s not the point. I sincerely doubt I could spend more than two or three billion on things for myself in a year (that’s humor), so I’d be happy with making enough to not have to worry about money and have enough to follow my other interests.

Bill Gates, I know you’re doing some good things in the world, but really, do you need THAT much money?

Worth doing!

A lot more time and money than I expected. Now comes the job of marketing. With experience, the next venture should go much quicker and economical.
