By the same school I did my clinical practice at!
I really need to add to my 43 things list to start keeping track of all the hilarious things that happen in the classroom – and all those things I never imagined would come out of my mouth! 5 years ago

My last official day was yesterday – Today I just dropped back in to go to our last segment of training in the new SMARTboards. Tomorrow night I’ll go back to watch my darlings dress up as lil duckies and sing their hearts out at the PTA program. And, I’ll probably drop in on them from time to time until the school year is over.

It went better than my first, so I’m happy.
Also got my praxis II scores back yesterday, and I just plain ROCK!
(Yes, I passed. I passed well.) :)
But I’m totally slackin’ on those lesson plans. I’m suppOSED to have them done by fridays before the next week. But my co-op teacher doesn’t ask to see them at all – she really doesn’t even think about it. . . so I didn’t finish them all this week – to give myself the weekend.
But have I done one all day? 6 years ago

Started my long range plans
Finished my observations report
Got caught up on my daily journals I’d ignored since day 2
Put everything that needed to be put in my clinical practice notebook in the right place, behind the correct divider
Started my lesson plans for week after next (already finished this coming weeks)
Washed out my clothes, and some other stuff. . . have stuff in the dryer and stuff in my bathroom drying out
I feel good :) 6 years ago

I know all the kids’ names, even the new one we got last Friday. (And even the one we had to send home with lice – I am wearing TONS of hairspray this week!!)
I take over Math next week, and have already turned in my lesson plans. (Teachers’ texts make it so much easier!) I’m also going to start reading Junie B. Jones to them in the afternoons, after centers and before dismissal. I love Junie B :)
My long range plans are the big project for this weekend – they are coming up due, as well as my observation report. . . lots to get done this weekend. 6 years ago

First week is all observation, but my teacher lets me help out with the small groups, and already treats me like a teacher in front of the kids, so its going well. They don’t treat me like a stranger, and I don’t feel like a bump on a log, in the way of everything. I’m involved, and I’m having a great time!
A few quick happenings:
One little boy told me I was “just beautiful.” Not beautiful, “JUST beautiful.” He then asked me to wear the same outfit again the next day. I said “I have to wash it first.” He said “Can’t you wash it tonight?” I said “No, but I have other clothes that I like and I can wear some of those.” He said “Well, when you DO wear it again, will you wear it exactly like that?” and then he gestured at the black shirt and pants I was wearing under the over-shirt he liked so much. I just laughed and said “I think that can be arranged.” Little children can be so good for the ego! (Or would that be bad???)
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what they allow teachers to get for two bucks at lunch everyday! The teacher’s bar always has a salad bar and a hot bar, and dessert and tea and coffee. Different salads every day (real salads – not just lettuce with a few tomatoes on top), different entrees. . . ALWAYS something that I can have on my diet that is also actually appetizing. And for $2.00. It’s awesome! (But I hear at other schools around here it’s not that great – that teachers just get what the kids get. I need to get hired by this school!)
My grandmother gave me some “cobbie’s cuddlers” in black. Theyre like loafers, but they’re like walking on air or pillows all day long. My feet NEVER hurt, or my legs. I’m tired – but no blisters and no achyness first thing in the morning, which I usually have when I’m on my feet all day long. (Yes – I am that out of shape.) I wore my roommate’s fluevogs today because it was jeans day and they just looked better, and they were “okay” but my legs ache now. Getting up to pee is a hassle. I may sleep here at the kitchen table. I will wear my cuddlers again Monday, so I dont feel this pain again. I love those shoes – I need some dressier ones for all my skirts!
I love my kids. They’re so smart!! They’re funny, they try so hard to be good. . .
I’m gushing. I’ll go for now :) 6 years ago
