XstffffyX is wishing life was like normal again
I’ll be going to university next september and this is the course I want to study. I’m excited as its something I am really interested in so hopefully in about 4 years I’ll be able to tick it off. =]
BrittaP03 It is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
but I took enough courses to get a good understanding. Helped me with many of my regular courses, because most topics sink in a lot better if you study them from the multi-disciplinary approach. So after you learned about a certain thing, and all of a sudden you see a specific painting, you go like “Oh wow, that’s what they must have thought then!”

I went to the IDEA center for recommendations for art history textbooks I can read on my own. The tutor/art-history-teacher was actually very impressed that I wanted to/was wiling to do extra work like that. That’s always nice.
I just can’t seem to find time to read that stuff. I’m so tired from regular projects! In fact, I can barely find time to finish my projects. So it’s just..maybe I should just purchase the books and read them over the break (we have a 2 week break coming up).

I’m not allowed to study art history as a class at my college unless I do a new contract and pay for the extra class (it’s a lot more complicated than a regular university). So my choices are to go to another school like a community college or just study on my own. I just realized that it is definitely not going to work out if I take a class somewhere else because I won’t be able to do it until fall semester (schedule conflicts). Unfortunately, I don’t want to go so long without any knowledge of art history…so I might just pick up a few reference books and start reading on my own. That’s the tougher option. :(

This was so important for me. It completely changed my academic life and my life in general. Great for learning about yourself, how you think, history, philosophy, aesthetics, all kinds of art, beauty. It’s something you give yourself, and it just gets better as you get older and see more art.
Obviously I am bias since this was my major in college, but this is very useful in understanding the world around (in any culture).
To quote my philosophy of art teacher, ‘when you are young you drink and party and you wonder what more there is to life… and then you find art!’
