... coming up soon!
So, the pedometer challenge is to walk 10,000 steps a day, each day of February.
I might have to change this to the May or July pedometer challenge – the place I;m living now is so cold rainy and muddy in February. 2 years ago

I haven’t excelled at this challenge, but I do feel so much better when I walk a lot. So I will try to get back up on that tightrope/wagon/horse/whatever for the last few days of February.

3 days in hospital, forgot it today, not supposed to do a lot of exercise for a while… not looking good. We’ll see about the exercise, I’ll take it easy for today at least, but they did say I could exercise as long as I was feeling fine, which I am. Definitely not allowed to go swimming though, and I get half my steps from the walk there and back! Weather is finally warming up just a little bit, which will make walking a little more pleasurable. 5 years ago

It was a long weekend for us this weekend, and I don’t have a lot to do at the moment, so I tried to do a 20,000 step walk yesterday. Only got to 15,000, and that took me two and a half hours. Probably could have done more, but I wasn’t in the mood for power walking, so it was more like a wander. On Saturday it snowed. I LOVE the snow. Where I live it snows a maximum of twice a year, so it is a real novelty and not a pain in the butt. I dragged my fiance out for a big walk and then went for another one myself- can’t get enough of how beautiful everything looks in the snow. Late in the afternoon it was raining, and then the next day was really sunny, so there were no icy footpaths to contend with. Perfect!
P.S. I usually round my numbers down to the nearest thousand, just to be sure I’m not overestimating. 5 years ago
Feb 8 – 8200. Regressing.
Feb 9 – didn’t even bother putting it on. Read a book. Absolutely regressing.
Feb 10 – 8700. Only put pedo on at 5pm, before I went for a big walk :-)
Feb 11 – 10100. I have no idea why it was so much higher today. Don’t think I did anything different.
Feb 12 – 6100. Huh? Normal day at work. But I went straight home instead of wandering around a bit first. I guess it makes a difference!
Feb 13 – 10100. I walked around the house for half an hour before bed to bump it up to 10,000 ;-)

Got in a few hundred extra steps today…by zoning out and forgetting to press the button for my bus stop :( 5 years ago
Lots of room for improvement… And I will definitely need to improve if I am going to “rock” the February pedometer challenge, like the goal states.
Taking Mopsy’s advice (and putting my own slant on it), I’m thinking that on the way to work, if I get off the bus a couple stops sooner I can probably work in a few extra steps.
Plus, at least it’s fully light out by the time I arrive at work, and it’s more fun to walk downtown than it is around my uninteresting neighbourhood. 5 years ago

Would have been a bit more yesterday- students were watching a video in class, and instead of sitting down I walked around the class the entire time. But I was treading softly so as to be quiet, and it didn’t register :( 5 years ago
Hi! I already work on a similar goal but thought I’d join you anyway.
February so far:
Feb 4: 10,369. Nice long walk today & a lazy evening.
Feb 3: 7,453. An average day? Could be.
Feb 2: 15,407. Best day so far!
Feb 1: 1,054. Spent most of the day in bed. 5 years ago

How annoying. Between the day I bought it and yesterday, I wore the damn thing every day. Now that the challenge has actually started I keep forgetting it! 5 years ago
OK so for February I am going to try wearing my pedometer all day to get a proper daily total:
01 – I have no idea, forgot my pedometer at home.
02 – Sat at home being lazy But it was a good kind of lazy, much needed. I have taken a meagre 2400 steps today, all day. Possibly an all-time low.
03 – 11000 or so
04 – 9600. I am quite disappointed actually. This was my first day wearing it to work, and I thought I’d clock a jillion steps considering that I’m standing up for 8 hours a day. But no, it turns out that I spend 90% of my at-work time standing in one spot or another, doing stuff. THIS SUCKS! And honestly, my feet usually hurt too much after work to go for a short walk.
05 – 7000. It was higher yesterday because I went to my French class after work, which added a couple hours to my “out and about” part of the day.
06 – 8800
07 – 8800 again! 5 years ago
It’s Feb 1 and I forgot to bring my pedometer to work. Fortunately it’s now the weekend. Unfortunately?, I just got some books from the library, which I am looking forward to reading…
Reading doesn’t really go with the pedometer challenge. 5 years ago
Are we just trying to clock up as many steps as possible? Or setting a number to aim for? 5 years ago
I need to buy a pedometer.
I’ll be in hospital for 3 days in February and I’m going to want to swim some days, so I’ll try to do lots of walking when I can and work out the average.
It will be inspiration to keep moving around the classroom when I’m supposedly team teaching! 5 years ago
Jan 8 -> 6000 steps (around the neighbourhood in the rain, running errands)
Jan 9 -> 4000
Jan 10 -> didn’t go outside
Jan 11 -> 5100 (carrying heavy groceries half the way!)
Jan 12-15 -> Whups! I keep forgetting to put the thing on…
Jan 20 -> 9317 yay! 5 years ago
I made it for most of the month. I was able to compile some data and estimate my daily average. I was kicking that pedometers ass! 6 years ago
Are you ready? Wednesday is February 1st! Get your pedometers and start walking! 7 years ago
