I think we will have to wait another year before we buy a house. I don’t think my husband or I expected to struggle as much as we are. We knew money would be tight while he is in school, but it is really tight and we haven’t had the means to save any money for a down payment.
That’s ok, though. My husband is out of school next May and then we will start really looking for a house. It will happen someday!!!

So I was talking to my husband last night and we decided that once we move (hopefully this summer) we will give ourselves one year to buy a house. I think that sounds really realistic. It could happen really quickly or it might take the whole year…who knows.
I feel better about going to AZ and renting at first, though, and then spending time looking around at areas and really researching the market before we dive into such a huge investment. It blows my mind to think that I could own a house next year!!

I am hoping that once my husband and I move this summer, we will be in a place with more reasonable real estate prices.
I would love to buy a house or condo or anything in the next couple of years. We will see what happens. I just hate pissing my money away on rent!

I already own a duplex, which gives me a $500 (canadian)mortgage per month for a 4-bedroom apartment in a big city. Not bad for a first home! However, I would like to acquire more, to invest, so one day I’m able to have a roof on my head “for free”. I think it’s hard to survive in a big city when you don’t own, because of rents are always going up. When you own, you are the one taking advantage of it.
