angelina is waking up. Maybe.
...as gas prices take off like the space shuttle delivering spare toilet parts.

the bike has just sat in the garage for almost a year.
No more. Called my insurance agent, called my mechanic, and renewing DMV registration. It will be on the road again soon.
The Hawk will fly again.
Is a L’il Tikes Big Wheel from school and I can’t get the kids off of it!
I’ve only had a “Menstral Cycle” and that’s been so long ago!
Last ride 3/2/08. less than 50 miles through locals hills. Always feels exhilarating and somehow very serene.

As I had previously posted, Mike and I took our bikes to the Lake Montezuma house for the long weekend. We had planned a weekend of watching movies, eating, riding, sleeping etc. This is kind of our pattern every time we go up there and we kind of do the same thing everyday, unless we are specifically working on the house, but this was a play weekend so no work.
On Monday, we decided to go out on the bikes again. We took off towards Jerome and just as we passed Jerome, heading towards the top of Mingus Mountain, it started snowing. Just so you all know, I have lived in Phoenix, Arizona since I was 13 and I have NEVER driven a car in the snow let alone ride a motorcycle. So it was kind of cool, it was just a light snow and the surroundings were a little on the foggy side and I was enjoying myself and I thought I was the shit, riding my bike in the snow. Look at me!!!
So we came down off the other side of Mingus Mountain and we were at Robert’s Market in Prescott Valley and Mike thought that while it was a pleasant ride over Mingus, that we should probaby not return that way as maybe by now the snow was starting to stick and the roads could be icy. He said we needed to take a different route back to the house.
We took an alternative route that we know of which takes us through Prescott Valley and Dewey over to the I-17 through Camp Verde and back to Lake Montezuma . . . big mistake!!!
When we got to Dewey it started snowing . . . hard . . . complete with rain, sleet, hail, snow . . . just a real bitch!!! It was really hard to see and snow was sticking to us so much that we looked like little snowpeople on snow motorcycles. Snow and ice sticking to the windshields of the bikes . . . to our visors on our helmets . . . kinda scary. hippiechick now is not having fun . . . hippiechick wanna go home . . . waaaaah!!
We did make it home without incident and I do officially think I am the shit . . . rode my bike in the snow!!! I was kinda scared . . . but I feel proud of myself for getting though it. There really wasn’t anywhere to stop and take shelter so it was forge on or stop and freeze to death I guess.
I will say though that at one point, the really funny story (which I can’t seem to find right now) about Unc taking a dump in the snow whilst hanging off his truck came to my mind . . . it kinda took my mind off the situation that I was in for the moment. Thanks Unc!!!

is tomorrow! Yippee! Now that the weather has agreed to cooperate…i.e., no more blistering days too hot to wear a helmet and jacket…I’ll be on my way up over Sonora Pass. I’m looking forward to some Fall color at the higher elevations. I’ll take pics and post ‘em soon.
