I finally took the plunge and ordered a copy of Adobe Acrobat today. It should make my personal document management much easier. PDFs will be much nicer than TIFFs. I’ve wanted the program forever, but a retial copy is $299. It’s hard to justify an expense like that, but I found a compromise. I found an OEM copy of Acrobat 9 for $145, which is much more easily rationalized. Now I just have to wait for delivery.

I’ve been scanning and document imaging everything in sight the last several weeks. I received the pack rat gene from my mother, and I’m finding documents from forever ago. I still have all my paystubs, W2s, and whatnot from as back as 1995. That was my job at Media Play back in high school. Holy moly!
The amount of recycling and shredding that I have done is insane. I’ve nearly worn out the shredder, and have a feeling it’s not going to last much longer. It’s kinda cool though b/c now I have all those documents in digital format to refer back to, and it’s been very nostalogic in many cases. I found a picture of the inside of my stomach from back in 2001 from when the doctor was looking for ulcers. Funny.
I have over 2GB of documents imaged already, and I have more to go. Naming the files, and organizing them in folders is killer.
