finish my tattoo

i got another two hours under my belt tonight! sadly i won’t be getting the rest finished until september. oy.

I had no idea it would take this long (at least not until the note I mentioned below) or cost this much. $320 so far, and he said we might only be half done!

The first session went good… TONS of changes and discussions and I think I made him hate me. Thank God Amber was there with me… She could understand his point of view as an artist, but also my point of view as wanting the damn thing done the way I want. So she worked with both of us.

By 2pm (a full hour after my appointment started) we FINALLY started inking. That hard part was over! 3 hours later, he says that’s all we can do for at least two weeks, and that we’re only half done! I can’t believe I have to walk around half done for 2 weeks!!!

I’m so excited, happy, relieved, etc. Everything good that I can be feeling, I am feeling. I am so thankful he remained patient (although irritated sometimes) and pushed through it all with me. Like I said, once the ink started flowing, it was all easy and downhill from there.

Next (and last) session is on Monday June 1st… and that’s only IF I heal enough by then. He said he could possibly turn me away. FINGERS CROSSED!

I set this as a goal, but didn’t realize that it would say “failed” if I didn’t mark it as complete!

But I didn’t fail! Thanks to Amber, we got as much done as we could without being tattoo artists.

And then I went to the shop on 5/5, 5 days early! So really I’ve just been waiting on them.

I was supposed to proof the design today, but the artists forgot it at home. So I’m heading over at noon tomorrow to proof it, and then the ink begins on Friday at 1pm!

my heart is racing…

my trip to LC didn’t go as well as I’d hoped. too much to get in to, let’s just say I’m super nervous. I hope the guy there comes up with something good based on all of me and Amber’s drawings.

I’m going in to proof it on Wednesday, and then as long as there are only minor changes left, I’ll go in for my first session on Friday!!!

In 2003 I began working with a tattoo artist on a half sleeve. It took three sessions to get where I am now. We had one more left to finish up some details and then there was a death in my family. So, I had to put things on hold for a year and move out of state to help my parents out, but I kept in touch with the artist. When I moved back and tried to get in touch with her, I found out that she was moving out of state in a month and she kept blowing me off. So now I have a half ass tattoo that I hate because it’s not where I want it and tattoo artists are usually snooty about working on art that’s not theirs. Well, one of these days I’ll get it finished.

Went to Liquid Courage after work last night, and talked about some details with the guys.

Going back there in about 2 hours. I’m really nervous for some reason. I think it’s because I’ve learned that people don’t really like working with me creatively (and maybe I don’t either). But I also have hard time figuring out what I “want”, and I’m afraid the artists I talk to there will just want to draw something, and then not show it to me until my appointment date, and then I just have to accept it. The whole system sucks in my opinion.

Well, anyway, trying to keep a good attitude, and to keep my heart rate down. We’ll see how this goes.

Last night they told me they estimate 2 or 3 three hour sessions, and between $600-$900. HOLY.

small speed bump in the design process. wish I could get into it now, but I can’t. my heart hurts.

Amber is really helping me a lot FINALLY. I begged her for help for an entire year. I am no artist, and my lone attempts are pretty pathetic. Well, we both kept putting it off and it just never happened.

Now after 3 months of being broken up, we are making an attempt at friendship, and we’re finally doing it. Spent a couple hours today, and we’re actually getting somewhere.

I’m so excited. I REALLY want it done in time for my Portland trip in June…
