Jennifer is on her way towards making 2009 a great year!
I have decided to log my books on Bookcrossing, All Consuming, and Library Thing.
I’m addicted to All Consuming, so it seems natural that I use that site to keep track of the books I’ve read. I love the goals of Bookcrossing to spread the joy of reading by leaving books in public places for people to read and share. I wasn’t sure if I was going to use Library Thing, but after using it for a while I began to enjoy it’s interface. It’s nice to have a list of books I’ve read that I can glance at, along with my written review of the book and my numerical review as well.
Memory fades over time, and sometimes even my opinions of things can change as well. So, it’s nice to have a log of books as well as what I felt about them at the time. Years from now, I’ll probably pick some of these books to read over again so once again I can read some of the books with a fresh perspective. It’s a great thing.

I love books and I love reading and I don’t want to make myself feel guilty about any part of the process.

I have a few logs for the books I read at All Consuming and Library Thing. I might end up just using All Consuming, as I’m sure to catalog over 200 books in the future, and I don’t really want to pay anything to do it.

I can’t seem to keep track of what I’m reading or make notes about what I’ve read. And I’m starting to question my reasons for doing so. What will a written record bring me? In what ways does the benefit outweigh the added added sense of responsibility and guilt when I fail to do so? I don’t want to turn reading into a chore.
Perhaps what I really want to do is join a reading group/book club…

I’ve yet to find a format that I like. I’m iffy about the Library Thing.
I just finished “Him Her Him Again The End Of Him,” which was incredibly funny in a very neurotic vein. I’d recommend it for anyone who like SNL (The writer was a SNL writer, so that’s an obvious connection) or who has obsessed over someone far too long and in the face of obvious reasons not to.

I’m going to give Library Thing a try… we’ll see if there’s an online solution for this objective. Perhaps it’ll work out well, but I’m not yet sure it offeres any advantages.

I work at a book store, I read lots of books. I wish I took the time to jot down at least a paragraph about each book I read. Not here, but in a permanent, off-line location. It would help me. Alot.

I now use Library Thing to keep track of my reading and opinions of what I’ve read.
