Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

gottabekd’s list of completed goals and it has reminded me of what a good idea this is :-)

I did convert my spare bedroom into a library, but then I moved all the junk back in….......

It was so good while it was clear though – there is a sofa in there, and books, and not much else. Sigh. Time to start clearing that room out again!! 8 years ago

gottabekdSO Worth Doing!

I did this and I love it! My small 3rd bedroom was the place to drop things and I decided that I needed the space to relax in, read, pay bills, talk on the phone. It needed to be stylish, beautiful and functional. I painted it celery green, with bookshelves along one wall, windows on another, a folding counch/bed that is the funkiest shape along another. I took the sliding doors off of the closet, took out the rod, painted the inside and over the molding around it, and got my guy to put shelves in it! There is room for a small dresser that house all my art supplies and papers and is a spot to put files and bills. The shelves above hold my baskets and bins of ‘stuff’, a dark brown/black ikea coffee table, and a pink throw make it feel like a little retreat. I have candles and all the stuff that I like, pictures of friends, every book I love, cds, artwork etc… It is a retreat for me now, and I find myself in there a lot. And, the “couch” folds to a double bed for any friends.

Apparently I really like my room, sorry!

Anyway, do it & love it :)

oh, i painted a wall in our living room dark brown and love it. it makes everything you own seem a bit cooler. unfortunately i only have a picture of the christmas tree that shows the colour, but you get the idea.. :) 8 years ago

truenightowlIn the planning stages still

but we do have a few very interesting ideas. And I absolutely love the idea of chocolate brown on the walls. Warm, dark and relaxing. Perfect for a little library. 8 years ago

truenightowlFun and useful!!

This one is right on in every way! Love the challenge of the physical aspect….hammers and nails and paint. And then, the payoff….a wonderful place to relax and read those books on my list!! 8 years ago
