My brother lent me an Edith Piaf CD not too long ago….I love it! Also found (and fell in love with) The Gossip and Grand Ole Party. Can’t wait to see GOP next month at Schuba’s! Going to be very exciting!! My (psychobilly/rockabilly) boyfriend turned me on to Tiger Army and The Horrorpops. I absolutely love hearing of new music/bands.

    What will come up next???

I got a gift certificate to Amoeba Music and I don’t trust going and looking because they have such a vast collection, I’d get overwhelmed. So, I’m gonna have to go in with a list. I’m really excited though. Plus this just reminded me that I’ve got an ipod that I haven’t used yet and there’s tons of stuff I could be downloading… But the nerd in me is all about NPR podcasts... and free lectures

My taste in music is already more elaborate than any of my friends, but I think I am far from satistfied with it.

I don’t hate listening to my iPod anymore! And I now have lots of “world” music which fun because I have no idea what the vocalists are singing about! My big thing lately has been accumulating a blues collection, fortunately the state library has been very helpful in achieving this goal :)

Listening to records is all I do. If you EVER want to hear something you’ve never heard before, just contact me and I will SHOWER you with BEAUTIFUL MUSIC! I listen to so much. Mostly obscure/underground/vintage stuff, so there’s a good chance most of you have never heard it. I just devote myself to learning about different groups, listening to records, experienceg, enjoying, and really living in the music. From The Velvet Underground to The Holy Modal Rounders to Moondog to The King Khan and BBQ Show to Tom Waits to Mulatu Astaqua to The Pogues, I dig it. I hate MOST music that is/has been popular. I’m not one of those assholes that just doesn’t like stuff because other people like it, pop music just hasn’t been that great since the 50s and 60s. Exceptions like The Beatles(obviously) and the first seven records of Bob Dylan (famous for a damn good reason) can be found in my massive record collection, but I would just LOVE to share some stuff with anyone who’ll listen, because the indescribable joy that I get out of listening to the music I love, is so great to share. Basically, I’m a freak for honest, real, often obscure music, and I would love to share something with/receive something from you.

thanks to my local library and cnet I have been able to expose myelf to all sorts of music that I normally wouldn’t even think of listening to. I’ve listened to all sorts of music from cnet, and at the library I checked out cd’s of jazz, opera, lyrical, instrumental, classical, and even blues. I never wanted to hear blues, because I thought it would be mopey and depressing, but it is actually quite uplifting! It is now one of my favorites. I am glad I decided to give this goal a try!

best way to do this without spending a crapload of $$$ is go to download.com and click on the music tab. they have TONS of free, legal music you can download to your ipod/itunes and free web streaming as well. it’s all from artists who just want to get their stuff out there and has almost every genre imaginable.
