avphibes is getting my household in order
Just to try and cover more bases, I sent in a reservation request at midnight spain time on the 13th, 14th and 15th. Maybe my ninja skills at getting a French Laundry reservation indicate that my reservation mojo is good this year.

avphibes is getting my household in order
Just got my email back and I did not get a reservation for 2008. I guess next year I’ll have to send in my request on the 14th. I’ve heard they usually get entirely booked within the first day.

I had sent a request prior to the middle of October and got a response back saying to send it October 14, 15, 16. They were very nice about it, but not very clear! Best of luck to you, avphibes! Hope to see you there.

avphibes is getting my household in order
So, since I knew that El Bulli starts taking reservations in “mid-october” I started researching online to try and figure out what exact date they meant by that. Interestingly, nobody seems to know. Everyone just keeps repeating the “mid-october” thing.
I did find a message board posting where the poster claimed that they had gotten a reservation by sending in their request at 12:01am Spain time on October 15th. Since that’s mid-october in the most literal sense, I deceded to go on that. I sent my request immediately after midnight spain time on October 15th.
I’ve heard they don’t get back to you with confirmations or condolences until november, so I’m just keeping my fingers crossed.

avphibes is getting my household in order
El Bulli starts taking reservations for the 2008 season in mid-october! I know that the demand is such that only about 1 in 300 inquiries actually manage to get a reservation for the year, but I’m hoping I’ll improve my odds by getting my reservation in quickly, only reserving for 2 people and asking for “any available time.” I can plan the trip to Spain around my reservation if I get it.

My brother just bought a couple of the El Bulli cookbooks and it all looks amazing. I’m hoping to actually make it to the restaurant some day, but for now I’ll have to live with eating everything my brother makes out of the cookbooks. Hard life, eh?
