elsa7 is getting motivated by making her list
...where I’m trying to get somewhere, or away from someone, and I seem to know these secret entrance/exits that take me into completely different rooms in different houses, including store cupboards and through living rooms.
Always fond of hideaways – favourite run arounds as a kid was interlinking back-alleys or a nearby gun fort with underground tunnels. Our cousin’s house did actually have secret fall-throughs between floors that only us kids could drop through. And I still love sleeping in the top bunk of a bunk bed as if I’m tucked/hiden away (I’m 28!)
Would love to design my own house with secret run arounds; snugs where TV/pc rooms could be shut off; lightweight wall sections that could be moved… be bit of a labrynth really :)

For a short time I lived in a house that my sister and her husband built. It was a stone house with a huge, double-sided fireplace. Next to the fireplace the architect designed a small nook with a hole in the ceiling. The nook had a built-in ladder that lead to the second floor, into a secret space between the bedrooms of her two little boys. The secret passageway was perfectly designed for little boys and girls – no adults. But I was able to sneak inside one day and share a bit of magic with my nephews.

It occurs to me, If I do or do not do this, I can’t actually say. If my house does have a passage, I cant say so or it wouldn’t be a secret. I have decided top leave this goal up, but no one will ever know if i’ve met it.

I have alwasys wanted to do this, my Dad use to have plans laying around and I always wondered why the homes weren’t more creative when you get to decide where to put things…. I inspired him to build one in his brand new home too!!!

I’m going to put triangle-shaped things on the floor in diagonally-opposite corners of my home that say “Secret passageway to the family room” and “Secret passageway to the Master Bedroom”.
Sigh. If only that were enough to spice up my love-life.

I moved into this house less than a year ago, so I don’t know all its quirks yet. I would swear that I heard something like a raccoon upstairs a few nights ago. I rarely use the upstairs, it’s waiting for my child to grow up and move up there. I don’t think the sounds came from the roof. I armed myself with a broom and went upstairs with my heart beating really hard. What would I find? A family of raccoons that has migrated down from the attic? A small family fleeing persecution that knows I never go upstairs hiding out? Teen-age hooligans?
Nothing. No traces of anybody living or chewing through anything.
I can only conclude that I live in a house with at least one secret passageway. Can I mark this accomplished?

definitely awesome, sliding bookshelves are the best. Maybe someday I’ll have a revolving fireplace
