My husband and I have traveled for 20 years in the military and 7 in the mission field. As a kid we moved alot. So I have always moved. I love it but as I got older a need arose – that surprised even me – I needed to stop somewhere and rest. We had just come home from overseas. My husband wanted to live in an apartment but I just couldn’t – we had just come from a big city in a foreign country. Just before we signed a contract for an apartment I found an add for a log cabin. I called but the cabin had been rented. I asked if she had ANYTHING else like that. She said she had something VERY rustic. I said, “I’d like to see it please”. My husband and I met her that afternoon and WOW. It was a 4 room house, one of those with 2 front doors. The oldest house in the area. It was located off a two lane road, off a back road, down a gravel road. The road actually led to a house and ended!! We eventually came to call it our place at the end of the world. When my husband saw it he said…“ no way”… when I saw it… “I said…oh yeah”!! My husband decided – with no nagging from me…honestly – to move into the house. What a year!! It had a stream running right in front of the porch – about 15 feet away – so you could sit on the porch and hear the small waterfalls. When the rain storms would come through the woods you could hear them coming long before they got there. We had a wood burning stove for heat. Picture this – Tennessee in all 4 seasons. We found out that the trail of tears went right through that area. I had just found out that year that my family had lost a large number of family members in the “trail of tears”. Because we were so very secluded I would go out at night…in my birthday suit…and dance in the moonlight…pure freedom!. It was a very short year but it was one of the most supernatural years of my life.

I didn’t realize how much i needed that communion with all the things that really matter: Earth Mother, Cousin Moon, the living trees and nature spirits that permeate everything. They are everywhere, yet so often ignored in our electric society. It certainly was good going out there feeling the coolness of the night, announcing that I am here and that I know there is magic yet in the world. It is all magic. Life is magic. How easily I’d forgotten and slipped into the monotonous mouse wheel of work without meaning. Back to the fringes with me! and there I hope to find others like me. Those for whom this is not the way.

Lindsay is going to see Indiana Jones!
there’s a school across the street from me and late at night the streetlights give my front yard such a glow! I spin around and sing and dance and thankfully everyone else is a sleeping because I’m sure I look a little crazy.

I’d love to do this with “Dancing in the Moonlight” by Thin Lizzy playing in the background. Cheesy in a way but yeah. Plus its one of my favourite songs…ever.

Okay, so originally I wanted to put “dance with a lizard in the pale moonlight”, because I read that on the back of a bottle cap. (It was asking if I had ever done it.) Oh, and it was for one of those SoBe drinks with the lizard logo. (Look it up if you don’t know what I’m talking about.)
But then I was like, okay, really now, would I ever actually dance with a lizard? Probably not. It would be extremely difficult, because I would have to bend over so far that I’d damage my back, or I would have to pick up the poor lizard which doesn’t really count as dancing; more like carrying while I am the only one moving around.
Or I would step on him.
Squish.
I think killing my dance partner might give me a bad rep.
So, I decided to just go with “dance in the moonlight”, which could be taken in a variety of ways.
Maybe I’d be with another person, maybe I’d be by myself.
Maybe I’ll dance with a gorilla. I love hairy creatures that eat fleas off of each other… and smell… and throw poo all over the place….Yes. I shall dance in the moonlight with a gorilla…
P.S. I am not high right now I swear
