House Vs. Loft...I'll pick the latter 16 months ago

Give me…...
High Ceilings!
Wood Floors !
Beautiful Stainless Steel Appliances!
Large Windows!
Brick Walls!
An amazing view of the City!
A large balcony!

And…a decent mortgage would be nice too (:

My kids are growing up fast. My honey and I want to eventually live in the city & a loft would be a dream come true for us. All good things come to those who have PATIENCE and WAIT (:

We visited ... 21 months ago

...two different lofts on Sunday and found a floorplan in each development that may work for us. The first one was near the Metrolink in Fullerton and was a live/work loft. The other lofts were in Anaheim, but the live/work lofts didn’t have a good floorplan. There were two other floorplans that we liked, with enough room for a home office, but no commercial space.

After looking these lofts, we have decided we can probably live in a loft that is around 1,700 square feet. Both lofts were new and gave us an idea of what we liked and didn’t like in the area surrounding the lofts. We aren’t ready to move yet since we still have a couple years lease on our current office and my husband doesn’t want to commute to work.

Found a realtor in the area we want to buy in, but things look so expensive. The smaller towns where we live near are plummeting in terms of the condos, townhouses. Just don’t want to live in that area.

Great idea? 22 months ago

We want to buy a loft, but where we live is so expensive. It is time for us to buy and I guess the word is that it is a “buyers market” with all the foreclosures going on around us. We can barely afford this but if we can pay off our credit cards and add to our down it could become a reality.

Looked .. 22 months ago

...at another loft yesterday. It is a new building in Orange, that is next to the metrolink and historic old town. What I loved most about this place is that it was built green, made with environmentally friendly products including solar panels that can supply up to 50% of the electricity. Normally I don’t like a lot of the materials used in model homes, but really liked so many found here. The lofts had bamboo flooring, glass tiles, deep kitchen sinks, caesarstone counters, decent appliances and several other things.

I loved the design of the smaller model, but just too small – would have loved the same model if the bedrooms and living area were a little larger. The next size up felt too big, more like condo and the living area on the main floor. The largest unit was zoned for a business downstairs, which is a plus for us.

Even though the floorplans aren’t exactly what we are looking for, I have a feeling we may be coming back here or comparing future lofts to this one because it has so many features that are right for us.

...we looked at lofts in Santa Ana & Anaheim. Some feel and look a little more like apartments and much newer than the lofts we looked at in Downtown Los Angeles a few weeks ago. I prefer the lofts in converted buildings that use more industrial materials and have more of an industrial feel. The newer buildings are nice though since many are more of a townhome style with a private garage.

I really like the lofts that have business space downstairs. We are just looking and figuring out which area and loft would be best for us. The next lofts we are planning on visiting are environmentally friendly and the floorplans look like they may be the right match for us.

Lofty Loft 23 months ago

My High School Yearbook predicted that I would live in a loft in the village when I grew up – my office is in a loft and soon my home will be too – just need to get the business poppin’ first.
