I moved to NOLA last year before I could start this. While there I started a smaller version and made a fair amount of progress. Then I moved rather suddenly when hurricane Ike came through and had to leave it behind. I’ve started a new one though and am quite excited to see how it turns out.

A start made

No idea where it will go but it feels good to have started. My glue tape ran out…...not impressed so it’s the scrap booking mounts at the moment because I don’t have the energy to find one of the thousands of glue sticks in the everything room. The table is awash with coloured paper and looks like a bomb hit it but it makes a pleasant change from the piles of laundry waiting to be put away.

I’m developing a serious collage-making addiction. It’s fun. This is my favorite one so far. It involves a bug telling another bug a bedtime story. I like the detail of the Madonna-snail, eating shrimp & thinking about the Buddha..

Been thinking of sticking this one up there for months. I am not sure that I can pull it off but I think I might just have a go anyway. A couple of years ago (when I was a much more enthusiastic teacher) I began putting themes on my wall sized notice boards (as many teachers do). These turned into scenes rather than just theme related bulletin boards. They were simple but the kids and parents loved them and my collegues always commented when they came in the room. The last one I did was for a plants unit and was a massive garden. I loved every minute of making it, I loved the reactions from the kids as they tried to work out what that circle was going to turn into. When I changed schools a couple of years ago they stopped. I have often wondered if I could recreate something similar on a small scale….. I guess I won’t find out unless I try. My whole wall has to be shrunk to a 30cm X 30cm scene, that will be interesting.
