So the KitchenAid Experience store is in Greenville, OH. I go to an annual group gathering that meets in various sites around Ohio every spring, and the last time it was in Greenville was about 4 years ago and I decided then that I wanted to get a KitchenAid mixer there next time we went back. So that’s been the plan for a while. This year the gathering’s back in Greenville. Which is naturally why I signed up for a Saturday biology class, meaning I’d have to blow off a day of class to go… and then my professor redid the syllabus so now there’s a super important test that day that I can’t miss so now I can’t go at all!
I know I could just get one in the store but I am so mad about this. The KitchenAid store has a little outlet shop in the basement with everything in 40,000,000 different colors and all the accessories and you can look at everything all in one spot and dude, seriously, 4 YEARS I HAVE BEEN WAITING, and now I can’t go because this guy can’t write a test or a syllabus.
(Yeah, I could just go, but it’s a 6 hour drive and there is not really that much to Greenville—there’s just not much point to going there just for one store, you know?)

And now, after managing to save up all the money for my mixer – I have $450 sitting in my savings account just waiting for me to go to the Kitchenaid Experience store – now I’m undecided!
(I suppose this is good evidence for people who say you should always sleep on decisions to spend lots of money. Not sure they had, like, a 12 month consideration period in mind, but hey. :-)
See, I am currently working on some other goals which, if I manage to meet them, will have me moving overseas in maybe five years. I don’t know if I’d stay there long term or not, but I definitely want to move in any event. So for the last little while a lot of my purchasing decisions have been made by asking myself the question or whether or not I’d take it with me when I moved, and if the answer was ‘no’ then I would be less likely to buy it. And a kitchen appliance would have a motor that is not likely to run on the electricity there. Not to mention I just simply don’t want to move a lot of stuff. I know these mixers hold their value well and I could probably get back a good portion of what I spent on it. Or I could find someone in my family who, I’m sure, would be quite pleased to take it off my hands. But, I dunno… it’s a long term sort of product. I’m conflicted.
At least I still have a couple months until April when I’ll be in Greenville, to decide (again). :) 4 years ago
All sizes and variations thereof are on sale! 4 years ago
Well, I have $250 saved (my goal is $400) towards my KitchenAid. The trouble is, I discovered that I really want to get a pressure cooker, so that I can can things… and the one I want to get is almost $200 (it’s so expensive because it’s an all-aluminum model made in Wisconsin, not a typical mass market store brand one … apart from the made in America aspect, this one is all metal with no gasket to maintain/wear out, and has fantastic reviews, so I’m pretty set on it). The contention is this. I could raid the KitchenAid fund for the money to buy it, which would mean it will take me pretty much all the way until next April to get the KitchenAid (April being the month I will be in Greenville, OH to visit the KitchenAid Experience store which is where I plan to choose and buy my mixer, where I can see them all in person). I’d prefer not to raid the KitchenAid fund, but if I wait until I can save up $200, summer (and therefore canning season) will be over. I’m not certain what I want to do. I wish there was someplace I could rent a pressure cooker for a while to make sure I like canning, before investing in one. I’ve been watching on craigslist with no luck, but I have just subbed to an RSS feed of the search, so we’ll see if one turns up before I make up my mind. 4 years ago
$200 in my savings is earmarked for this. I’m not in a real rush though, since I’m not going to buy it as soon as I have the money. I plan to be in Greenville, OH, next April (for an unrelated thing), where there’s a (the?) KitchenAid Experience store. I plan to get my KitchenAid then, so I can have my choice of what model and color and whatever accessories. It seems like a long ways away though. :) 5 years ago
I recently eliminated my credit card debt, racked up by years of instant gratification-itis. And I’m not going to do that again, so I’m going to have to save up to buy the KitchenAid I want (and have badly wanted, for ages). I think if I save $400 that should be enough to buy the one I want—I want the 6 quart bowl-lift model, which lists at about $500 but is currently on sale for about $350 at amazon. So I figure I can save halfway between those two and bide my time for a sale.
I’m going to designate $50 of my monthly savings for this, for 8 months. 5 years ago
I wanted one for many years until I found one reasonably priced at an estate sale.. Got it and have used it regularily ever since. I love it! oh and my wife likes it too. :) 5 years ago
My boyfriend got me an onyx black Kitchenaid mixer for my birthday. Woo hoo! I haven’t even had time to unpack it yet, but I can’t wait to use it. :) 5 years ago
My mom gave me her mixer since she hasn’t used it in a couple of years. I’m very excited to try it out. What to bake first? She also gave me a piece of granite left over from her new counter tops. Yay mom! 6 years ago
I got mine for Christmas and love it! I am suprised how much I use it and am glad I have it! 6 years ago
It’s packed away in a box for the past 3 years while I have been in the Peace Corps in PerĂº.
Can’t wait to recover it next month when I get back to NJ.

I have a pink one (support the Susan G. Komen foundation with the purchase!), and it is one of the best investments I have made. I definately recomend it. I love my kitchenaid mixer and it makes cooking/baking so easy and fun! 6 years ago
