I have contacted Diane Featherstone, and Elizabeth and I are signing up for her next session of teacher training!
Shulamit is working on a take home exam.
How I did it: I went to Kripalu Centre and took the 200-hour program. That took a year. After I was done my Kripalu Basic training, I joined the Ontario Yoga Association and went through their certification process. I took the 200-hour Integrative Yoga Therapy Training and the 1-year Viniyoga Foundations Course. That all took another 2 years or so. I am now one module away from completing the Kripalu 500-hour professional certification; that has taken … Read how I did it…

Went for the interview last week and now I’m on my way to certification. Come Feb ‘08, I’ll have the 200 hr certification with the Yoga Alliance. Very exciting stuff!!!
So, in early January, I’ll be doing an Anusara immersion. I haven’t figured out how to pay for it yet, but I’ve already put this off twice because of other circumstances. So, this January, it’s time. Six months, one weekend a month.
I’m ready!
So my wife sent me a link to a teacher training that sounds absolutely delightful. At the same time, there is an Anusara immersion that will be going on early next year (hopefully on different weekends).
However, this is going to be a huge commitment on her part. I’m happy to do everything this takes (and even participate in the Anusara immersion); however, I would be away from the family for a significant amount of time, and, even with the family I would be focusing on the training.
I will have to make that commitment at some point. I’m wondering if this fall and the first half of next year is the time to do it.
I am able to do free head stand now, (it’s a big deal to me!) and can stand up without any help from a back bend if I focus and use my breath well…I know it will be a long journey to become a yoga teacher…I am totally enjoying what yoga brings me…they are something that beyond words…I will continue my practise until I achieve this goal…
I’ve been practicing yoga for almost four years now, and I’ve loved every moment. I found a couple of teachers I enjoy studying under, who teach the Anusara style of yoga. I really like that one because it really emphasizes the interconnection between the physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions of yoga. It’s a lot easier to take the yoga lessons off the mat and apply them in daily life.
So, given that I have a family and a full-time job, this is going to be a long, slow, enjoyable road. This fall, I intend to do the Anusara immersion course offered in my home town, and maybe start a small yoga group at work afterwards. Teacher training comes next year, probably.
