My friend and I ran into Time Square at about 3+ pm, and stood at 47th and Broadway. It was so tight that you couldn’t move around other than rotate your body on the spot. But the killer is the cold winds. It probably isn’t a problem for people coming from colder climates, but for others this will be a challenge — standing in the cold for 8 hours is a serious downer.
My friend and I left at 6pm.

New Year’s Eve at Times Square is pretty cool. I am not a total believer in it though. It’s not worth it unless you live somewhat close to New York. It really is about standing for at least 6 hours in an enormous crowd in freezing weather. If that’s your idea of fun, then go ahead.
