...was getting a job so that I can pay for this sort of thing. And now I have one! So I’m looking at taking skate lessons over at the Cerritos Skate Depot:

No idea what the classes are going to entail, but I’m excited about it. I’ve been off my skates for almost a year now and I would really like to get back on them…not only so that I can get some use out of an expensive birthday gift, but also in pursuit of joining a roller derby team! (I can start in on that goal too, now that I will have health insurance.) 21 months ago

I walked away from the park today feeling disheartened. I was having trouble feeling like I was well balanced today and it really got to me. I need to focus on the positives though. The big terrifying hill? I totally went down it today without ending up on my ass. It was wonderful and I ended up doing the Kick Buttowski hand thing at the bottom. It really felt good. Plus, it was so hot today, 95 degrees, that we really didn’t end up going long at all. Which is completely fine, because hell it was so hot. 21 months ago

We went to Clement Park today and I think something finally clicked for me. I wiped out once, and have some impressive road rash to show for it, but I feel like I really get it now and can’t wait to go back and be completely self sufficent. At this point I just need to get my ankles stronger so that I can use all of my brake instead of one corner. That, and remember to look ahead of me instead of at my feet, and to shift my weight instead of trying to step. 22 months ago

I went out to break in my brand new skates with my mom today. It was way more difficult than I thought and I got frustrated too quickly. I just need to remember that breaking in new skates is a process and that they’ll be worth it. 22 months ago
