SmallVictories is fine and dandy and, by the way, addicted to FarmTown.
The thing is only that I finally got it as done as I can on my own. The rest is signing all sorts of papers and paying the notary…hopefully I will have news on this by October 31.

I have not finished it, but I am clear about what needs to be done – and a timeline in which to do it. I will be returning to Montreal from Copenhagen on June 24 for approx. 3 weeks, and that is when I will finish up the details, get it drafted by the notary, and sign it.

Maybe only 1/3 because the second half is more difficult in many ways than the first. I need to figure out if I can set up a trust before I die – and also the rules of the trust and foundation programs it funds.

This is so important, but it is hard to get the money together for the lawyer.

I typed my advanced healthcare directive. Next stept is to print it out and to take it to the local hospitals, keep a copy in my car and one where “they” are trained to look for it in your house. Then I will start my will.

I was not expecting so little so I am happy!
To do list:
- find an executor and a secondary executor, send info to notary
- ask and send trustee’s information (acting trustee to find and delegate to a permanent trustee for the Foundation) to notary
talk to CFHS about administering secondary goal of trust to which they agreed- set up a list of conditions and rules for the trust – the cost of setting up the trust will be taken care of as part of executing the will
- provision in will for my parents
- provision in will for my pets
- write codicil for disposing of my personal objects to friends, family, and other organizations
- send in “personal patrimony” (list of assets) to notary, do this whenever list changes
- write mandate in case of incapacity

The one that did the deed to my house is good enough for this work. If she doesn’t agree, she will recommend someone else. I do not have to wait and ask around for a personal referral; that is just a procrastination technique.
It is time I got this done. It would bring me peace of mind to know that my good work should continue if something were to happen to me, and that it wouldn’t go to irresponsible family members.
