Joeyzaza82 All work and no play makes Jack..well, me I guess.
Boy I thought this would be an easy one today after how tired I was last night, but sadly no, I bombed at it. This trying to sleep during the day stuff is for the birds (or I guess maybe the bats?). I fell asleep on the couch which meant that periodically one of two little deviant children would dive bomb daddy while he tried sleeping. At one point I awoke two my two year old bouncing up and down on daddys tummy. Little brat. Anyways, today technically my Friday so when I get outta here this morning at 11 I can just crash for the next few days and try to get caught up on some sleep. Blood Drive Wednesday and H4H Thursday!! Need to be well rested by then.

Joeyzaza82 All work and no play makes Jack..well, me I guess.
I’ve got three hours left on a 12 hour shift from 11pm to am, and am really starting to get tired. Really could use another cup of coffee(see “things I’ve done”), but I think that it’ll probably kick in about half an hour before I leave here and then I wont be able to get to sleep when I get home and end up in this same situation tomorrow. Damn.

i’ve been facing a hard time when it comes to sleep. i think to much, i’m anxious and unable to relax. today i skept my morning class just to see if i could get some sleep: a better one, not just a little longer. this is because when i fall asleep some creepy nightmares haunt me. i wonder what the hell is my problem.
anyway, i got a plan! let’s just focus on it; hope it works.

Put bed back together (after painting) with my new bed-in-bag set. It looks all fluffy and inviting. Simonpup was able to come upstairs last night and i finally had a night’s sleep not folded up like origami on the loveseat. A couple more nights like last, and i’ll feel normal again :)

Finally, i’ve been logging many hours of sleep! Usually laying down around 11 & getting up around 7. Very pleased by this, definitely seems to be my natural cycle (hence why i “gave up” on my 6am goal).
However, Simon-pup still has cone around his head and is sleeping downstairs till he’s all healed up. I’ve been sleeping on the couch to stick near him otherwise he’s up all night whining (separation anxiety). Thus the quality of sleep has not been so great. Can’t wait till i can return to a real mattress.

adding this as a goal as i hope to catch up this labor day weekend.
I’ve only gotten, maybe 4 hrs a night most of this week and it’s really taken its toll. I don’t even feel human right now, i think my head is going to roll off my shoulders at any minute.
Of course i already knew i was in trouble but went to see Xiu Xiu last night anyway. It was so great tho, sleep be damned.

i’ve done everything people recommend (cut down on caffeine and alcohol, go to bed at the same time each night, wake up at the same time each morning, take a bath, drink warm milk, etc) and nothing works.
i’ve tried melatonin, trazadone, restoril, ambien, and more and they’ve all stopped working.
i lay in bed waiting to sleep and instead i see day light first.
my shrink says i could just have a different cycle than other people.
but how do you function properly if you can sleep properly?
i’m not willing to work night-shift because i’d never see my boyfriend, but how to i get and hold a job when i can’t sleep normal hours?
i just want to be able to sleep like a normal person!

Three things that helped me the most:
1. Curbed caffeine, no alcohol
2. Supplemented on occasion with melatonin
3. Sleep diary to understand patterns (both when things were good and bad)

Just two more nights to record in the sleep diary. It’s been a fun project, mostly because I feel that the sleep has gotten better! I had one night at S’s house and one together at mine this weekend, and I was able to sleep both nights! (it’s so wonderful to WAKE up next to someone you love, rather than lie AWAKE all night next to them—if they’re sleeping that is!)
I noticed that this month I only sleep about 6-6.5 hours. I’ve been functioning okay on that. And 8 am is truly my body’s “happy time” to wake up.
Well, so I’m guessing more so than the actual recording of the sleep habits, it’s the other habits that have been helping. Changed my caffeine consumption radically from several cups of tea and coffee a day to ONE cup of tea, in the morning and that’s it. And I haven’t drank any alcohol in a month either.
