Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

kimfdimI am still working on this!

I am almost through with about 1/2 of my non-fiction books. have 1/2 to go and then all my fiction, which is about the same amount as 1/2 of my non-fiction. so, I guess I’m about 1/3 of the way there! 6 years ago

OOhhh, I loved this. I love lists and books. Two of my favorite things. I still need to add so MANY more! 6 years ago

kimfdimMaybe I will finally finish this!!!

Have been trying to inventory my books on Library Thing for about 2 years now. This year I want to finish it! I am still stuck in World History! 7 years ago

fabulousladyThis was fun

I’m not sure if I’ll use it, but it was fun to indulge the book nerd in me and list all my books somewhere. :) 7 years ago

MIRV379 books catologued!!

Many, MANY more to go! 7 years ago

MIRVyay :CueCat!

I now have 158 books cataloged on librarything. Slow and steady. Mow if only I can figure out a better system for keeping track of what has been cataloged and what books of read… As someone who owns a lot of non-fiction I’m frequently guilty of reading half a book (or bits and pieces) but never picking up again to finish it. 7 years ago

Wow I’m such a nerd! My :cueCat arrived and I love it; I’ve already started cataloging my books! So much fun lol 7 years ago

MIRVhere kitty kitty

I’ve ordered a CueCat so this will be much easier than manually entering every book, epecially with the size of my library! My significant other is even interested in doing the same! It will be interesting to see just who has more books… ignoring magazines, movies and music, as he wins those categories :) 7 years ago

Caroline200 already?!

I’ve used up all my free space so I’ll get a life time account on pay day so I can carry on with this, I like how you can pick the book cover or scan your own in so that it’s the right one. 7 years ago

esmecata big job... but will be worth it!

we have a few thousand books between the 2 of us. this is a massive project… especially since most of our books live in the 20 or so file boxes stacked in the living room at the moment… waiting for the overly busy husband to get to finishing the bookcases that have been in construction for over a year.

our books fall into 3 major categories. Christian Reference. Art/Craft books. and Sci-Fi/Fantasy (these have their own bookshelves in the bedroom and will get cataloged much quicker.)

this project is even a bigger task because we have a LARGE collection of older and out of print (and many not originally printed in the US) Christian reference books. these take a lot more hunting and looking to find a match in the library thing system. 7 years ago

Ninawills40 books added

I know I have more, I’m just not sure where I put them. And I have several others I haven’t read, will add them once I’ve read them all. Will write a review even, if I can spare the time or the inclination ;)

Apparently a free account limits one’s catalog to 200 books only. Not sure whether I’d pay $25 just to catalog all of my books. We’ll see how this goes. But for now, I love this site to bits and highly recommend all book lovers to check it out! 8 years ago

NinawillsA heavenly find :)

Thanks to echristian5, I discovered this site and once my exam is over tomorrow, am gonna go and catalogue more of my books here :)

I wonder if there’s a way I can read and read without feeling guilty (and make money too!). 8 years ago
