KatsLovinLife is hopeful for a great 2009!

Day 1: Prep 1 month ago

We did all the shopping and prep work today. It is expensive to buy all those supplies! Tomorrow we will actually paint; I expect the painting to be easier than the shopping/sanding/spackeling/taping. It doesn’t help that the previous owner did a terrible job edging things, I think we will be haunted by pink spots for the rest of our lives.

Need to do this soon 9 months ago

We have never touched the paint the previous owners had done. I think they believed it was beige but it is very pinky. Its hideous – truly. I am unemployed and stuck at home and I think if I were to get this done I would enjoy being her much more than I do currently.

I'm giving up on this, but only because it's going under a larger goal 10 months ago

S and I are creating a master list of home-improvement projects we’d like to do, which he’s going to put in a spreadsheet. He loves spreadsheets! :) Then we’ll be able to sort it by room or by things we can do ourselves or by estimated cost or by how dire the necessity for the task is. So I’m going to make a new goal related to that master list.

trim, walls, door 10 months ago

Time to paint my living room and hallway. I’m nervous about keeping my beautiful wood floors protected and getting my doors and trim and windowsills painted.

It is half done 17 months ago

which is the problem. We ran out of paint so one of the walls still needs a second coat and so the effect is that the whole room looks like shit.

We were suppose to do it the following weekend but one thing lead to another and now it has been like 6 months. Yuck.

But now that I have it listed here on 43 things, I know it will get done soon!

    Blah white. ‘Nuff said.

Our living room is now a beautiful dark olive green color that makes the house look so much more inviting and cozy. I love having a cup of tea here, or checking email on the couch! After a few small touch-ups it will be perfection. SOOO worth it!

Half Way Done 21 months ago

We’re halfway finished with the living room, and have just completely the dining room. It’s looking really good. Unfortunately we ran out of tape, so the living room will remain half done until another day off. That sounds crappy, I know, but these things happen. Good luck to everyone!

riffing off the idea of this 22 months ago

It’s not painting, and it’s not even in the living room. But it’s progress toward painting the living room because it’s one more thing crossed off the list of “Half-finished Projects/Projects That Went No Further Than Buying Supplies”—a list that needs to be worked through before we start another project. That is, of course, an unwritten list.

Anyway, today S put up the new light fixture in at the bottom of the stairs! Ooh, it’s beautiful! Ooh, it gives good light!

This is the one I discussed with Crazyinagoodway recently: The one we’ve had in a box for two years, and which has now finally replaced the etched smoked glass fixture.

It’s going to make me happy every time I come down the stairs now.
