Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

- The Robots.

Foole never can say "Goodbye" (to 43) Number 16. A song that helped you through a break up/loss

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PkcfQtibmU

This has been my anthem for the last ten months. Yes, I’m walking, but trust is another issue. However, at my age, I’m comforted in knowing how very unlikely I’ll ever have to play that game again. Solitary and FREE!

and please spare me the insipid condolences of “It only takes time.” or there’s someone out there for everyone”. Yes, there is and I’ve found her. It’s ME. 5 months ago

Simon - whyofwhy@gmail.com1) The song that would be the theme song for the film of your life (to date)

No explanation needed.

Peggy Lee – Is That All There Is?16 months ago

Simon - whyofwhy@gmail.com2) A song that makes you want to get out your lighter and roar along with the crowd

Here’s an oddity. On the face of it, my choice is too fast-paced for lighter-waving, and yet, in my mind, it works perfectly.

Pink Floyd – Another Brick in the Wall Part 216 months ago

Simon - whyofwhy@gmail.com3) A song that makes you want to throw the radio out of the window rather than listen to it

Well, this is easy. I can choose almost anything from the UK Top Twenty from the last ten years.

I suppose I should be specific. How about this?16 months ago

Simon - whyofwhy@gmail.com4) A song that has an amusingly irritating way of sticking in people’s minds if you sing it, so they end up humming it all day ;p

It’s taken a while to think of a fitting tune. I’m sure that’s down to some kind of protective amnesia; my brain refused to think of a mind-sticking song because it didn’t want to be stuck with it. And now I’ve overcome that reluctance, I’ll be singing this damn song for ages. I hope you do to. :P

Village People – YMCA16 months ago

Simon - whyofwhy@gmail.com5) A song that makes you nostalgic

I’m going to cheat here. This song isn’t about nostaglia per se, it’s about saudade.

Mike And The Mechanics – The Living Years16 months ago

Simon - whyofwhy@gmail.com6) A song that lifts your spirits

Like #8, I have plenty of options here. Should I choose an oldie, a song which lifts my spirits by re-awakening happy memories? Or a newer tune, mentally connected with more up-to-date fun times?

Ah, I know! A song from a couple of years ago, which gets me reminiscing about a road trip across a couple States. We were driving up a slight hill, with wind turbines in the distance, when the first notes drifted from the speakers.

Blake Shelton – Honey Bee

It was a good vacation. 16 months ago

Simon - whyofwhy@gmail.com7) A song that reminds you of an ill advised (but wickedly fun) person/place/time

I was roughly thirteen years old, with a bunch of guys of similar age, playing on a construction site, and decided to sing and dance this song while atop a six foot tall stack of bricks. Although it ended badly, with me falling down a gap in the stack, it was a lot of fun. Ah, the happy, carefree days of puberty!

Delta Rhythm Boys – Dry Bones16 months ago

Simon - whyofwhy@gmail.com8) A song linked to a significant event in your life

Oh, there’s such a wide choice! How to choose, how to choose? Sit back, relax, and go with my gut instinct.

Ouch.

Brad Paisley – Wrapped Around16 months ago

Simon - whyofwhy@gmail.com9) A song that should be pumping whilst cruising along in a car on a sunny day with the windows and top down

Once upon a time, I had the perfect tune for sunny-day cruising. And then it was hijacked by less-than-happy associations, so I needed to find another.

Here’s my current share-with-anyone-within-half-a-mile song.

Luke Bryan – Take My Drunk Ass Home16 months ago

Simon - whyofwhy@gmail.com10) A song that speaks to you of teen angst

Paul Hardcastle – 19

And that’s ‘bout all I have to say about that. 16 months ago

Simon - whyofwhy@gmail.com11) A song that’s so cheesy it should come with its own crackers, but nonetheless it makes you smile and sing along

What could be more cheesy than Mr Cheese himself, with his own personal take on an old Puddle of Mudd standard?

Richard Cheese – She Hates Me

Honorable mention to Joe Brown’s ukulele version of Ace Of Spades16 months ago

Simon - whyofwhy@gmail.com12) A song that reminds you of a place you’ve worked

I’ve had a sudden flash of inspiration.

Five, maybe six, possibly seven years ago, I was working (not too hard, mind) in an office out in the sticks. A low-level, wooden construction at the end of a long, single-track road, surrounded by farmland, it was the most picturesque workplace. Many were the days when I’d arrive (or leave (or both)) listening to this song. The occasional presence of a John Deere tractor nearby made it all the more poignant.

Simon - whyofwhy@gmail.com13) A song that makes you want to be in someone’s arms

It’s taken me an age (Six months. That’s an age.) to think of a suitable song, because music doesn’t really get me that way. Sure, a tune can enliven me, lyrics can sadden me, a video can enlighten me, but making me want to embrace, cuddle or canoodle is a whole ‘nother matter.

This song achieves the near-impossible.

Uncle Kracker – Smile.

misswestwood30) A song that you’d like to listen to right now

Wiz Khalifa & Snoop Dogg feat Bruno Mars- Young , wild and free

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wa5B22KAkEk

[Hook: Bruno Mars]
So what we get drunk?
So what we smoke weed?
We’re just having fun
We don’t care who sees
So what we go out?
That’s how it’s supposed to be
Living young and wild and free

[Verse 1: Wiz Khalifa]
So what I keep ‘em rolled up?
Saggin’ my pants, not caring what I show
Keep it real with my niggas
Keep it player for these hoes
And look clean don’t it?
Washed it the other day, watch how you lean on it
Give me some 501 jeans on it
Roll joints bigger than King Kong’s fingers
And smoke them hoes down ’til they stingers
You a class clown and if I skip for the day
I’m with your bitch smokin’ grade A

[Verse 1: Snoop Dogg]
You know what?
It’s like I’m 17 again
Peach fuzz on my face
Lookin’, on the case
Tryna find a hella taste
Oh my god, I’m on the chase, Chevy
It’s gettin’ kinda heavy, relevant, sellin’ it
Dippin’ away, time keeps slippin’ away
Zip in the safe, flippin’ for pay
Tippin’ like I’m drippin’ in paint
Up front, four blunts, like, “Khalifa put the weed in a J”

[Hook]

[Verse 2: Wiz Khalifa]
And I don’t even care
Cause if me and my team in there
There’s gonna be some weed in the air
Tell ‘em Mac

[Verse 2: Snoop Dogg]
Blowin’ everywhere we goin’ and now you knowin’
When I step right up, get my lighter so I can light up

[Wiz Khalifa]
That’s how it should be done
Soon as you thinkin’ you’re down
Find how to turn things around
Now things are lookin’ up

[Snoop Dogg]
From the ground up, pound up, this Taylor Gang
So turn my sound up and mount up and do my thang

[Wiz Khalifa]
Now I’m chillin’, fresh outta class, feelin’
Like I’m on my own and I could probably own a building
Got my own car, no job, no children
Had a science project, me and Mac killed it

[Snoop Dogg]
T-H-C, M-A-C, D-E-V, H-D-3, high as me
This is us, we gon’ fuss
And we gon’ fight and we gon’ roll
And live off life

[Hook]

[Bridge: Wiz Khalifa]
Yea, roll one, smoke one
When you live like this you’re supposed to party
Roll one, smoke one, and we all just having fun
So we just, roll one, smoke one
When you live like this you’re supposed to party
Roll one, smoke one, and we all just having fun

anya marina – whatever you like (original by T.I.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6INLzQaWask&ob=av2n

Stacks on deck, Patrón on ice

We can pop bottles all night

Baby, you can have whatever you like

I said, you can have whatever you like, yeah

Late night sex so wet and so tight

I’ll gas up the jet for you tonight

Baby, you can go wherever you like

I said, you can go wherever you like, yeah

Any time you want to pick up the telephone

You know it ain’t nothin’ drop a couple stacks on you

You want it? You can get it, my dear

Five million dollar homes, drop bently’s I swear

Yeah, I want your body, I need your body

Long as you got me, you won’t need nobody

You want it, I got it, go get it, I buy it

Tell them other broke niggas “Be quiet!”

Stacks on deck, Patrón on ice

We can pop bottles all night

Baby, you can have whatever you like

I said, you can have whatever you like, yeah

Late night sex so wet and so tight

I’ll gas up the jet for you tonight

Baby, you can go wherever you like

I said, you can go wherever you like, yeah

Shawty, you the hottest, I love the way you drop it

Brain so good}good swore you went to college

hundred cant deposit, vacations in the tropics

‘Cause everybody know it ain’t trickin’ if ya got it

You ain’t never ever gotta go in your wallet

Long as I got rubber band banks in my pocket

five six rides with rims and a body kit

Ya ain’t gotta downgrade; you can get what I get

My chick can have what she want

And go in any store, buy any bag she want

I notice you ain’t never had a man like that

To buy you anything your heart desires like that

Yeah, I want your body, I need your body

Long as you got me, you won’t need nobody

You want it, I got it, go get it, I buy it

Tell them other broke niggas “Be quiet!”

Stacks on deck, Patrón on ice

We can pop bottles all night

Baby, you can have whatever you like

I said, you can have whatever you like, yeah

Late night Sex so wet amd so tight

I’ll gas up the jet for you tonight

Baby, you can go wherever you like

I said, you can go wherever you like, yeah

I’m talkin’ big boy rides in this big boy ice

Let me put this big boy in your life

Thang get so wet it hit so right

Let me put this big boy in your life, that’s right

I want your body, I need your body

misswestwood28) A song from the first album you remember buying

Kittie – Brackish

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZzgLtiTEZE

She is not scared to die..

The best things in life drive her to cry.

Crucify then learn..

(take so much away from inside you, makes no sence,

you know he can’t guide you, he’s your fucking shoulder to lean on, be strong!)

Sit and watch me burn..

She’s led to believe, that it be ok,

look at your face, scarred in dismay,

but times have changed, and so have you..

I think I’d rather crucify then learn

(take so much away from inside you, makes no sence,

you know he can’t guide you, he’s your fucking shoulder to lean on, be strong!)

Sit and watch me burn..

I’d like to take you down, and show you

deep inside, my life my inner workin

so smell and lack of inner pride,

to touch upon the surface, is not for

what it seems, I take away

my problems, but only in my dreams.

(take so much away from inside you, makes no sence,

you know he can’t guide you, he’s your fucking shoulder to lean on, be strong!)

Crucify the learn..

(take so much away from inside you, makes no sence,

you know he can’t guide you, he’s your fucking shoulder to lean on, be strong!)

Crucify then learn..

Sit and watch me burn. 2 years ago
