What an excellent night. 2 years ago

I’m glad that more people have had this exact idea… it’s very magical.

I did this on a freezing night and could have used the hot cocoa 3 years ago

Nov 11 couple of years back watching the Leonids. I literally saw 1000’s of meteors.

It may be as glorious in about 30 years, I’d wait for that one.

it was hot tea in a thermos and chocolates in the hand—so even though there was no cocoa, there was heat, and chocolate, and shooting stars. close enough? :)

i’ve always found that the best time to do this is late august. every year there are one or two nights that are known to have meteor showers.

...hm. i just looked it up, and it seems like the august showers (normally quite good) will be washed out by the moon somewhat this year. here and here are two sites you might be interested in. the first one is geekier, but says how visible the showers will be. the second one is easier to read and lists dates right away.

hm. maybe i should take my stepson out to the beach for the next one. i would have loved it if someone did that with me when i was a kid, wouldn’t you?
