How to wash the dog
It made me
pet her! 
"It was gross! I had to clip her first--she has more fur than my whole family has hair, and she is naturally water repellent, but. . .totally worth it."
How I did it: Ok, the day before, clip the dog and cut out any matted fur. On bath day, brush the dog a lot--I ended with a fine tooth comb--to loosed a lot of dander and other icky stuff.
Run a bath and wash, rinse. Drain the tub and start over.
Lessons & tips: Definitely helps to clip and brush a cocker spaniel before bathing!

...with her Dirty Beaver. It’s her new favourite toy. Dirty Beaver really wasn’t so dirty until she was out in the yard. Now both DB and Gigi Dog are both dirty.
