Quiet weekend alone at my shop. I decided not to go back to the village but stayed at my shop alone to clear my head and do the thing that I’ve postponed for a long time; painting my bedroom. I’ve bought the paint for more than a month and it just sat there collecting dust. So, it was time to smear it all the wall.
I spent the weekend doing lots of things and talking to nobody and not leaving the shop for the whole 2 days. I started Saturday by painting my old bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom was done but for the bedroom, I just finished the first wall and I ran out of the paint. But I need to hold my painting bc it starts to rain alot lately and it’s going to take ages for the paint to dry. Bad timing! Anyway, I love how it turned out. Lots of works are needed to be done in my room and I need to start to do them little by little. I can’t keep avoiding it anymore. Otherwise, I am going keep bugging myself for not getting anything done with my room.
I also decorate the current room I am sleeping in, my sister’s room. I’ve moved the sofa from the second for to the third floor alone. I couldn’t believe that I’ve done that alone. It was not so heavy but it’s big. And it needed at 2 people to move it up the narrow stairs. One pushed and one pulled. But I did it alone bc I needed to make some changes in the room. I think I’ve done it out of the sheer stubbornness with the thought that I could do it alone and yes, I’ve done it and felt like I was working out in a gym for 2 hours. I love how it makes the room look more comfy; the lemon green sofa with the matching light yellow and green curtain from India. Now I want to stay there forever. And while painting the wall, I took down the old clock, wiped it clean and painted it dark blue, the same color as the bedroom wall. At night, I cut out some alphabets from old magazines and put them together on the clock. It reads ‘get shits done’ and hung my new clock on the bathroom wall.. It’s always good to see something new around the house even though it was made from something old.
Apart from painting, cleaning & decluttering my shop, I spent the rest of the day writing in my journal. It’s been a long while since I’ve written something very long. I wrote until the ink ran out. I wrote a few poems and copied new quotes into my journal. Writing’s always a good way to clear my head. I avoided getting online. I just got down to check emials and do some work and then came upstairs to write and read. I even finished a book!
I went back to read the old entries in the journals and laughed at myself. How silly I was! Things didn’t change much. The core of being me was still the same; same feelings, same whinings, same rants and raves with different times and settings.. but still I saw some transformations, growths and evolvements in me through those journals.. I look at myself and my life with funnier eyes.
It was raining cats and dogs, day and night and I didn’t want to go out anywhere or to see anyone. So on Friday, I stocked up foods for the weekend and planned for this retreat.
I lived like a hobbit in my own world doing my things and this is kind of my way to recharge my battery. And the head is totally cleared.
Too bad that my camera was broken, totally dead, so I couldn’t take photos of the new painting.18 months ago

at an art musuem near the harbour in Kaohsiung. After Joy came back from her morning run, we borrowed a bike from the hotel, rode it to the harbour, walked around, took plenty of photos and then rode further to see more arts not caring the strong sunlight.. life is good.. 19 months ago
and we are ready to hit the road this afternoon. We will catch a night train from Hatyai to KL. Take a shower at KL train station, go sightseeing for a day, then catch an evening plane to Taipei, a new place to get lost. We don’t just stay in Taipei but will go down to the South, East and Central of Taiwan too. We will be back in 10 days! Bye! 19 months ago
I am busy and exhausted after each day ends. With shop, running and planning the trip to Taiwan (and the boy to get rid off my head), I feel life is fulfilled. I fully live it when I am busy like this. Trying to juggle things and balancing them is fun and having things to look forward to is more thrilling. The race on Sunday, the trip to Taiwan and the best girlfriends to meet and get drunk with, I can’t wait to do them all.. 20 months ago
Last year, I finished 9th (or 8th, not so sure.) and I was so glad and surprised to be there on the stage with other runners getting the trophy.
And this year, I will go for it again. I just want to be there, to run and be around other runners and walk around taking photos after completing 10.5k. It’s a pure joy. And wish me fun! 21 months ago
I am still here but I’ve 6 translation works to battle!
I am training for the 10k race on this coming Sunday. I won’t miss it this time!! 23 months ago
Suddenly everything in the world makes sense, because without the crap and the death and the drudgery and the endlessness of life, it would be impossible for passion to exist. ” 23 months ago
