Good thing I recorded the various Albatross-related conversations here. When I started to pay bills this month I found that we were still being billed for the service that I canceled on that “final” call. So I came to 43Things to document the date of my call to cancel, & I could tell customer service that it was March 2—there is certainly no reason to be billing us now. I’ll spare you an account of the hassle of this call (this company, a huge multinational corporation, is a mess!). But success at last. Hopefully I’m free for real now. 6 years ago

has been dispatched!
The bothersome situation had been much alleviated by my prior arguments with the company, so it had become much less urgent. Finally, though, I did persuade a family member to attend to something on her end so that I could make the FINAL CALL on my end—& I made it! Yay!
In the interim, I also made several other necessary phone calls (including the argument about the pants that I had to extract myself from with scissors). Oddly, I seem to be better able to make these icky phone calls now that I’m working away from home. The boundaries of a regular workday help, & it’s motivating to use them as a productive break from my work. Heh. 6 years ago

it’s ridiculous, but tragic circumstances made me accomplish this goal tonight. It was awful, but one of my former coworkers and his wife were hit this morning in a hit-and-run accident while they were taking their morning walk. (He survived and she didn’t…and they are in their 50s with an adult child, so please pray for the family.) The call I needed to make was to another former co-worker at that same company to finish out this goal. So, I had to find out what she knew…and I was able to update her on everything since we talked. 6 years ago

The avoidance was not without reason-I was on the phone with three different people, over a considerable stretch of time (45 min.?), & I was repeatedly annoyed & frustrated, sometimes by unfair company policy/setup, sometimes by ineptitude (or inadequate training of employees). Two more calls will be required to get this whole issue taken care of-sigh. Hopefully they will be short.
So the Albatross has not yet been untied from my neck, but it’s nearly untangled.

The Albatross Phone Call will be made this next week! I’m going to take the paperwork to my new office & make the call from there. If I’m put on hold for long periods, I can continue working in the meantime.
I have made a number of phone calls in the past couple of weeks—need to give myself credit for them. It’s just this one that has generated a serious block in my mind. I’m going to do it & check off the goal. Yes I am. 6 years ago

you can’t keep me off the telephone, but this year has been different for me. I haven’t kept in touch with people as well as I should have. I’ve contacted two people of several I need to talk to. I can’t believe that there are some people I haven’t talked to all year long! 6 years ago

I made a couple of calls & filled in a couple of related forms on websites. These were required to be done before June 30, so I was motivated to GET THEM DONE.
Still have one Mongo Call: I’ve been putting it off, but I’m tired of having it hanging over my head, so I’m going to get it done in the next week & check this goal off. Promise to myself!! 6 years ago

moving it over to the completed side, although I am sure I will have many more calls to make in the future. If I let them mount up once more I’ll re-instate this as a goal again. HOWEVER, I am currently working on doing things when they need to be done instead of putting things off! 6 years ago

Yes, they can do a data transfer for both of my older machines. I am going to take both macs in tomorrow. Also need to decide about the warranty thing for the laptop I am currently working on. Why do I need three macintosh computers? well, I don’t. However I wouldn’t mind having both laptops. I guess I need to figure out what to do with my old blue tower and the monitor. 6 years ago

the one I am checking with about possible legal malpractice by attorney #2. I have an appointment with him now for this afternoon. I need to determine if I should file fee arbitration with the State bar or not. The attorney is only charging the initial fee as directed by the bar for a referred attorney (35.00). It is nice that the fee is so modest! 7 years ago

I FINALLY cancelled our AOL account!! wahooo! I was on hold for a hundred years (alright that is a bit of an exaggeration, but it felt like a long long time) and then I ticked the girl off so much she sent me into dead air! (I was mad at her for all her stupid queries)..”do you have broadband? we want you to stay..we’ll give you 3 free months” blah blah..I have been through this before (and they wore me down..but not this time!) so I told her “NO! no questions..just cancel my account!” So she says you have to listen to this..and blam dead air. THEN I had to call back to get my confirmation number. An ordeal. But finally over. I should have cancelled this like 3 years ago. We weren’t using it. FINALLY! hooray!! 7 years ago

called the art gallery to make sure I am signed up for the workshop next week. I left a message, if I don’t hear back I will just show up on Monday, but I would have thought I would have gotten a confirmation by now.
I took the same workshop last year and they didn’t have me listed despite my having paid so I really didn’t want to go through all that again. 7 years ago
