Well the first week, ground week is finally done. We start tower week tomorrow and then finally jump week after that. I just want to get this school over with so I can get my wings and get back to my unit.
How I did it: The school is three weeks long but you get nights and weekends off usually. The first two weeks suck because the training is remedial and can beat you up a bit. In the end though it is definitely worth it. Jumping is amazing once your chute deploys and you are just floating through the air it is very peaceful and free.
Lessons & tips: Just get through the first two weeks as best you can.
Resources: Run a lot.

Well I finally got to airborne school after a lot of paperwork issues. We pretty much got the weekend off so I went into columbus and played tourist and went to a waffle house. Training begins Monday.

Well, since I ended up in an airborne unit I have to go to airborne school. I’m excited I’m getting another chance to go. I’m getting pretty fit again, I just got to work on my running time and pushup form.

Well, my left knee has been bothering me pretty badly lately. I actually hurt it towards the end of basic training and it never really healed. I’m told it is “runners knee”. I had a week off of running when I first got to Sam Houston but like I said it just never healed. I’m not sure what to do after about a mile or so it starts to hurt and the pain just goes up the longer I go. This sucks because in airborne we do ALOT of running and it’s hard on the knees and back to jump off an airplane and land. I have a PT test next week, so after that I’ll go to sick call and see if I can get another diagnosis about what’s going on with this damn knee.

well airborne physical training begins next week for me over here at ft. sam. It consists of running, more running, and some more running.

Well, I’m schedueled to go to airborne school at Fort Benning after AIT, I hope I make it. Jumpschool sounds like fun, getting paid to parachute!
Yeeeaaaahhhh! I did it, things got switched up, i got the last slot in my unit to go to Airborne school. It was fantastic, Georgia was extremely hunid though. We had to run everywhere, the training was tedious and kind of remedial at times but it all paid off. Two weeks of BS to jump 5 times was very worth it. I gratuated the school on september 28th, i just havent been on here in quite sometime!
It happened the other day. i found out i wasnt able to go to airborne school. man i was heated. i’m kind of hoping it wasnt the only opportunity i had available. by the way, are they’re any other soldiers out there that are airborne or have been. what can you tell about it?
