I’ve never played a musical instrument growing up…probably because we couldn’t afford it. I’d like to learn to play the piano and think it will be a good way to express myself.

How I did it: I started taking lessons from a piano teacher down the road. As I improved, my parents hired a more professional teacher, and after college I have been on my own. It takes a lot of practice! Read how I did it…

How I did it: I took lessons thorughout my childhood. I was not a natural player to begin with, but I developed that natural feeling through the years. My teacher would NOT let me move on from a song until it was nearly perfect. It drove me nuts but I appreciate it now. Read how I did it…

Later.
I think I’m at about grade 2 standard now, but its hard when I’m only around a piano for 4 weeks out of the year!
I just love the way the piano sounds. I would love to learn how to play beautiful music that really comes from the heart. I want to start out learning to play simple things and work my way up until I can write my own music.

Every time I hear the piano, I want to play too. I’ve never learned. I’m going to buy an electric keyboard next year, and teach myself. I’m looking forward to this.

When I was eight years old, I started taking piano lessons for two years. I was a lazy kid (or at least unmotivated) and didn’t practice. So naturally, I didn’t advance very far with my skill. I would love to be able to play popular music pieces and also to be able to do a little improvisation and composition on my own with some work and practice.
Such a beautiful instrument.
I wish I had stuck with my piano lessons when I was younger.
I didn’t like it back then though.
I could have been excellent by now.
All well, I want to learn now.
I am determined to find a way to do it.
I took a beginners course, but just for half a year since i thought i was going to move(but i didnt….) At least I learned the basics, and i am slooowly progressing myself still.
How marvelous it would be.. It’s going to be! :D

Muriel asks,
“I've been learning on a small keyboard, which isn't cutting it now. I have the chance to purchase a Suzuki SS100 or a Casio PX110. Both for about $500. Any advice on the two? (They are both weighted, 88 keys, etc.)”
