How I did it: My mum arranged for her friend's mother to give me piano lessons. It lasted about 5 years until I'd had enough but I still play if I get chance though more by ear now days.A lot of practice and being too scared of my teacher to dare do anything other then play piano Read how I did it…
How I did it: I'm an 8 year old girl that got punished, so I couldn't do want I liked the most. PLAY VIDEO GAMES. So, my grandmother's piano was in the dining room. I like to randomly play. I asked my mom and my sister for a little help, and 2 months later, I don't want to play video games.I want to play the piano! Now I'm on an adult course, still 8 years old! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I started plicking ang plockins around the keys of the piano in my house when I was about 4. My mom taught me a little, and I learned how to sight read and play some simple songs. I started taking formal lessons in 5th or 6th grade, I can't remember. The lessons were half an hour long once a week. It's been a little more than 6 years since I have started taking lessons, and I can play many pieces with ease. I apparently have a "music… Read how I did it…
How I did it: As a kid my parents made me take piano lessons for 4 years, and ofcourse i hated it back then. Afterwards I spent 2-3 years without touching the piano and forgetting most of it. I've always loved piano music though and about 6 months ago I decided to take it seriously again.I knew the very basics, and I didn't take any lessons, just started playing easy songs I liked. I started playing Yann Tiersen songs, some of them are surprisingly eas… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I took lessons once a week for a few months. It was ok, and I enjoyed it at first but I realized that once the fun part stopped, I wasn't motivated enough to continue. That doesn't mean I wouldn't still love to be able to just sit down at a piano and play, but I'd say I completed this goal in that I figured out that it wasn't a priority. Read how I did it…

Maybe Arjun will teach me?? (in all his spare time..)
Hint? Hint? Your first music student? :3
I love classic novels, especially works of Austen and their movies. Not surprisingly, I am very fond of classical music, particularly those of Chopin, Debussy and some Mozart. When I listen to the compositions on my iPod, I feel as though I want to play it myself.
I’m sick now, so I can’t go anywhere until I feel better; but once I do, I’m going to a music school to inquire and hopefully, start learning how to play the piano.
eubielicious is creating a whole new list of goals...
I’m a brass player, brought up in a brass band playing the cornet, but have always wanted to play piano as I love piano music. Would love to be able to play some Bach and perhaps some Debussy or Satie – I’m realistic about that and realise they are all some time off yet!
Okay I think I know when I can practice playing piano now…after the kids start school, both of them! :)
smacey feels naked.
i’m going in to town tomorrow so I’ll look for a self-teaching book before I can afford lessons. I guess I’ll use that old keyboard for now…
lyk0s is inspired :)
my goal is by the end of the week to be able to play at least one song. i’ve been putting this off all month, so i figure this is a good way to get started.
When I was a child, I took piano lessons for a year and hated it. I complained about going every day (week?) and eventually my parents let me quit. This summer, I got out my old piano books again, and I’m trying to teach myself to play. I definitely enjoy teaching myself a lot more than being instructed, and it’s a lot more fun when I’m not being forced to do it! I’ll probably never be very good, but I’m just doing it to have fun, so that’s all that matters. (: I’ve been practicing almost every day and I’ve seen a lot of improvement already.
Next Tuesday, I will start my piano lesson in the summer. There will be 7 one-hour lessons. Hope I can improve myself a little bit :D
jamieleee this is the first day of my life..
just got a piano! I don’t have money so I’m going to attempt to teach myself with books, dvds, etc.

Muriel asks,
“I've been learning on a small keyboard, which isn't cutting it now. I have the chance to purchase a Suzuki SS100 or a Casio PX110. Both for about $500. Any advice on the two? (They are both weighted, 88 keys, etc.)”
