Since the age of 12 it was my dream to go to Egypt. I knew I could not leave this earth unless I had been there, and I
said it a hundred times. In 1992 I was able to fulfill my dream.
After 8 of the most soul satisfying days in my life I did not want to leave. Now I say I won’t depart this terra firma until I’ve been back!
Do you know what it feels like to be in a place where you just KNOW you’ve been before? For me it was “coming home”, plain and simple…
Now, whenever stress or unhappiness enters my life I just remember one particular incident, one moment during that trip that immediately puts everything into perspective and lifts me from the immediate into the infinite.
I will never be the same again.

I visited family in Cairo during my senior year in high school. I spent most of the trip sulking because I was homesick and I wanted to be with my mom for Christmas. My camera broke the first day I got there. I bought a ton of presents for other people, but very few reminders for myself. I’m going back, damn it! And I won’t be a spoiled brat and waste it this time.
