It is on my list for today. It’s next! I am using the machine and I am counting it!! :)
How to do more sewing
How I did it: Whenever I had an idea that I thought would make a good sewing project, instead of just writing it down I would go to my sewing machine (or sit with my sewing kit) and do it! I have made many things, from stuffed animals to bags to cool recon t's.
Lessons & tips: When you have nothing to do, sit with your sewing supplies and try to think of some sewing project to do.
VERY IMPORTANT!
Never stop working until you are done! That is how projects can be forgotten and never finished.

I think that sort of counts. Also, I went to a fabric store. The dream is not dead!!

first, I don’t like the cutting-out part because I don’t really have enough room.
Solution: do layout and cutting at work on the big conference room tables at lunchtime.
Second, I don’t like actually sitting at the sewing machine or doing the set-up part. So I’ve started sewing by hand instead. I pretend I’m a couturie!
I haven’t touched my sewing machine since my summer vacation. :-( I now have a backlog of projects, including a hemming project for my son’s teacher…
On the upside, my daughter is gaining confidence with the portable machine I got the kids. She’s made a couple of free-form projects already! We haven’t worked with patterns yet, I’m just trying to get her comfortable and encourage her creativity. (I want to be a better role model!)
...and another influx of projects! (Sale was too good to pass up!) I think I got a good mix of short-term gratification projects and more involved projects. I’ve completed several items this year (t-shirts and shorts, aprons, a dress for my daughter, a tablecloth) and bailed on one (curtains for my son’s room; needed to re-plan this)—and I’ve probably added a dozen!
I also came home with a small, portable sewing machine on which to teach my kids to sew. I’m intent on passing on this legacy! :-)
On my current project that is. I think I will just scrap the cut pieces and store the pattern. I really need to do some curtains. Now… to just find the time to do those.
So I really need to make some curtains… my husband brought this up again as I have put it off for almost a year. I think I know what style to follow but I just need to do it. However, first I should probably finish the shirt I started a while ago… or just scrap the idea. I have put a note in my calendar that I need to either scrap it or be close to finish it by July 4th.
The last thing I did was make some pretty green curtains for my apartment in Winnipeg. Now that I’m back in Texas, and have left all my supplies in Canada, I don’t think I’ll be doing a whole lot of sewing for a while. I need an actual sewing machine one of these days though. I haven’t tried craigslist!
Absolutely no time to sew. And my bedroom is too untidy to find my sewing stuff.
